Post 50 S&H

I just recently hit 50 and I'm considering using the upcoming fixskill to drop my S&H (maxed) for a bump in MnS ranks.

I'm currently open aiming with a longbow.

Other than sneaking past Icemule gate guards, I haven't used hiding for anything in quite some time.

I do like the option of casting 608 when I'm in a pinch, but I feel that I can't justify all those skill points for just that reason.

My question is, how many of you higher level Rangers out there find sniping from hiding more viable than from the open?

Bare in mind that I am a Giantman, so hiding is difficult to begin with.

My ranger isn't that much higher level than yours (58), but he generally only snipes when he's hunting warcamps. Also, he's only been 1x S&H since he switched to bow and with the bonuses from natural colors and sneaking has been able to successfully snipe all but the most perceptive like-level creatures (undead/beasts/etc).

My character is Sylvan, though, so maybe as a giant you need a little extra hiding oomph.

I get sniffed out on a regular basis at 2x with my Giantman. They are listed on kraki as having a "moderate" hiding penalty. I would call it "significant", where as your Sylvan is listed as having "a large hiding bonus".

I up hunt about 6 levels and do not get sniffed out unless they are undead I consider it part of the rp and it does have a noticeable increase in one shot kills with 608...that being said it is a lot of tp

My ranger was training 80 when I got rid of him, I only open ambushed everything. 610 if it swarms, 608 if you need the AS boost.
In warcamps I just used a crap ton of haste imbeds.
1 arrow a second was pretty much GG.
