View Full Version : remind me why it's a bad idea to return to prime?

- Because 40$/ a month is a ridiculous amount to pay? Let's face it, you're pretty much forced in to premium for any access to events, merchants, extra storage, keeping up with Jonses.

- Because access to special events would make premium worth it, but you pay additional for access?

- Because the playerbase is pretty much dead?

- Because I recently noticed they went to a paid point system for "extras".

Please add to these reasons to not return, even if it would satisfy a nostalgic impulse.

Because apparently the GMs want to make it a capital offense if you move in and out of a room too often.

Sounds like you're feeling a nostalgic impulse. The best solution is to re-activate a basic subscription for one month and then de-activate. Your nostalgic impulse will be satisfied, at least for the time being.

Yah, just hope SIMU is smart enough to jump on the free 2 play + paid perks model.

There are a lot go good things going on in the game at moment too. You don't have to pay for premium.

Kenstrom is doing a pretty sweet storyline right now that has netted me numerous RPA's.

You don't have to pay for premium.

That's true, but prime is super restrictive if you plan on having any alts.

Simu will never take the chance of losing all of their subscription money for and F2P model.

Yep. Just look at Modus Operandi. Dead game, but still has a subscription fee.

Completely agree. Unfortunate, as they could increase their revenue in a few months. The main thing holding me back from playing is there just isn't anyone on.

Because apparently the GMs want to make it a capital offense if you move in and out of a room too often.

You know, some people hunt with friends, and they kind of chat and interact and do that whole squishy human thing. I haven't played recently, but it's seriously annoying when someone is flashing by you in a small area like cyclops, or if they have some kind of special script that pops in and out of the room repeatedly, waiting to see if you're going to "use" your monster. Add to the fact that it's some capped character increasing the hunting pressure and lowering the treasure for the "right leveled" people, and maybe you can understand why some people might think it's a dick move?

I haven't played in over a year, maybe they've changed these concerns?

If someone's movement is annoying I squelch them.

I think I can get over the "zomg want to send monies to simu" fever in a few days w/o pulling off a Michael Hutchence.

There should be a paladin folder about, should be a ton of reading to catch up on. Read a bit, and if you don't find anything that addresses it, post a new thread. Someone is always happy to show off their knowledge.

Perhaps I should have clarified: last time I played, things like Erithians, Paladins and Katanas were new. GoS didn't exist. So there are several things about the game that I am unclear about and am uncertain as to where to start.

Reason: The officials.

Hmm, I returned after about an 8 year absence myself. I read the official site a little bit, jumped in game and mucked around badly, then read the official site a whole lot. I googled a whole lot of questions I had. There are character generator websites, tons of outdated sites with class development guides, so be careful that it's not a GS3 guide. You're ahead of me in that you've already found this site. The biggest difference since you last played is the Lich project. Take as much time as you need to learn to install and at least have a rudimentary idea of what it can do for you. It's like an easy button for this game just with it's mapping functions. Pretty much everything can be found on this site, read a bit, ask for clarification, don't forget to enjoy the game, stumble through and make some mistakes. I always start with a throwaway character, who I won't get too attached to when I start over, because you will make some mistakes.

Nilandia's Empath Info - Check
Lack of finding a stat trainer/char builder that I can use - Check (Tsoran's doesn't like me).
Lots of spare time - nope

Except that it thinks stat placement is 660 at start, not 640. Not a terrible to correct issue, but still annoying.... all of the information out there is conflicting.

They've considered it as a last resort I'm sure.

If the population keeps rising, they may not ever do it.

If it keeps dropping, they will be forced to do it.

This is kind of funny but, I actually had a dream about a GM in Gemstone complaining about how Icemule Trace's population was dropping too rapidly. It was kind of sad because he was really upset about it.

Isn't it only an extra $2.50 a month?

I've got a basic subscription and have been considering getting an alt. My own laziness about researching the best way to train a wizard is holding me back much more than the additional cost.

Only having one locker with less space in it kinda sucks, but otherwise I don't really have any complaints about having a basic account (if I'm not going to pay $45 a month, I'm certainly not interested in paying $200 for events like CCF and smaller events don't necessarily require a premium subscription).

I guess I just have to figure out which kind of mage I want and when I can set aside the proper time to get the most out of the first 30 days.
