I'd like her to primarily use a bow, but have her spells available to her as well for defensive means.

Does this sound utterly insane or can it be done? I'd like her to be human.

Usually bow using sorcs use the sorcerer spells to soften them up or stun the target and then finish them off with the bow to save mana. I imagine you will use quake or ewave quite a bit if you don't want to use sorcerer spells.

Just be a wizard instead. Same damn idea but much more viable.

No, I want to use sorcerer spells too, I'm not against them or anything. :)

I just want to know if its viable and can be done without me wanting to rip my hair out in frustration.

Spirit Strike + Quake, kneel and fire a crossbow. Yeah, not cheap mana or resource wise, but doable.

Yeah it's do-able. I have a bow using wizard who I think is more viable, but I know several sorcs who do it as well.

It's been done. Ketum's a bow using sorcerer.

As people have stated.. I think a wizard is more viable. Haste, strength, defensive spells, call wind, ewave, tremors...

Hmm.. maybe I'll change my wizard...

Brimzstone was using a bow and did quite well as a wizard archer last I saw, but thats been a while.

Sorcerer/archer:
mechanically crazy
RP viable

My sorc is a simple run of the mill runestaff user.

Would a wizard be able to eblade or any kind of temporary flares to the arrows/bow?

Since eblade is in the minor elemental circle.. and wizards have access to said circle.. I would say yes.

And you eblade the arrows/bolts.. not the bow itself.

Eblade the arrows for sure. All my crossbow bolts are ebladed with different types of flares. I dont think you can eblade the actual bow/crossbow.

I also found out (recently) that you can wspec (CM training) the arrows for added bonus but I havn't tried it yet.

My wizard is pretty sick, half krolvin is definately the race to play for wiz-archers though. He fires aimed shots at the eye with a longbow at 3 seconds, 1 second with haste, it's really simple and mana-efficent to kill things with him.

Also, there are plenty of capped or near capped wizards who use bows, Earthdiver, Zarsul, I think someone said Brimzstone did. I think the area that no one really know about is 50-75 and how that will work out, but I imagine it'll be fine. Archery wizards and sorcs can still use their spells effectively enough to hunt.

Wizards cannot wspec.
