Yeah I am old and grumpy. Deal with it.

I'd venture that at least 75% of people left in the game are scripting idiots.

I frequently walk in with a sack full of wands, but I dupe them before selling which should double or triple the screen scroll.

Often when I post, I get negative rep. I could post "Have a nice day" and get negative rep from some folks who are out to show how much they don't like me.
All the rep I have received so far from posting this thread has been positive. Here are a couple examples:
I dont like you but god! Idiots spamming the fuck out of my screen at the pawn and gemshop annoys me too.
Nah, they get the same script from DerpImAnIdiotScripts.com.

Speaking of Candor, here's a funny classic log...
So.. Obviously Candor is getting owned here but I think the real pwnage is being delivered to the lovely Amberain... Kudos to the GM. :)
A passing guard says, "For being generally a nusiance in town, Candor is now being tarred for your viewing pleasure in Town Square."
[Town Square, West]
You notice the Amberain disk, a wooden shield and a kobold skin.
Also here: Urimaak, Arumak, Apen, Lord Terax, Viridian (sitting), Lady Tailiana, Nadrena, Great Lady Amberain, Rogane, Candor who is trussed to some gallows
Obvious paths: north, east, south, west
>
>
A snaggle-toothed old man grins evilly as he approaches Candor with a steaming bucket of tar. He cackles madly as he flings it on Candor, and the tar runs down his back, causing Candor to cry out in agony.
>
>
A soft looking town official wanders in to observe the goings-on. He nods approvingly as a housewife flings a large glob of tar at Candor's right hand before moving on.
>
>
Candor clearly says, "I am taking names here..."
>
Speaking knowingly in Guildspeak to Candor, Rogane says, "I like to hear your scream, it bring joy to my ears."
>>
A town official wanders in with a basket of fruit and trips and it flies through the air and lands on Rogane's head, soaking him in rotted fruit.

Speaking to Candor, Ganalon says, "Make sure you spell mine correctly."

Candor begins chuckling at Rogane!
>
Speaking knowingly to Candor, Rogane says, "I like to hear your scream, it bring joy to my ears."
>
Amberain giggles.
>
Ganalon starts chortling.
>
An armored guard climbs onto the gallows to check Candor's bonds. He tightens the ropes on Candor's ankles and leans down to smile crookedly at him before leaping back to the ground. The townsfolk take that as a signal to continue, and pelt his left leg with tar.
>
Lady Cyira's group just arrived.

Candor clearly says, "All right, I realize this just HAS to be some kind of joke."

Apen seems to lose some internal strength.

The town official looks at Candor and says, "You aren't welcome in this town any more, troublemaker. We'll make sure you get out of town, and don't come back anytime soon, unless you want more trouble!"
With that, the official raises a nasty looking club and brings it down hard atop Candor's head, knocking him unconscious! They then untie the limp Candor and drag him off.

I honestly didn't realize this thread would create so much attention. People either strongly agree with me that scripters should be more aware of the scroll they create, or believe I am complete moron for even bringing up the issue.
I suspect the reason for the strong reactions from the scripters is that they are using the game to supplement their income, and they consider the subject of this thread to be a threat to that purpose. This was absolutely not my intent. Although I do not supplement my income from the game, I have no objection to someone else doing so. I only wanted to bring some awareness that a lot of scroll can be rather annoying to some players, and clearly my feedback indicates that I am not the only player with that opinion.
Since I don't have a solution, and since this isn't really a major problem overall, I am just going to stop commenting in this thread. May I suggest that some of you reppers need to chill out a bit.

You absolutely do, at times, try to be considerate towards others near you, I will give you that. You could do better, though.
It could just be me here, but probably isn't- my sentiment is along the lines of *that* you script not being the issue, it's the fact that you do it simultaneously on 6 different characters all in the same area (Vo, Ry, Bo, Ar, Na, & Dr + any others I don't know about) - and have been doing it for over a year straight (on 5 of them) - hunting certain areas containing critters literally a third or a half of your capped level- into abject poverty- which gets a bit fucking old.
I actually kind of like you when you decide to play for real, but watching your bot crew rustle up landslides on my head over, and over, and over, and over- can get REAL old. Especially when the critters all have boxes with 500 silver in them thanks entirely to you and you alone.
It's also quite disruptive to watch you blitz TC with 3-4 pages of movement in 10 seconds on your empath and wizard. You should seriously consider taking my friendly advice in managing your mapdelays in a differential manner so you appear to be less of coked-out robot hydra. It's one thing to script- I think most reasonable people use many scripts every day. It's another to do it in a fashion which is just generally freaking irritating to those around you. You should consider your own presence to be an anathema to the average person- as they're full aware that you're just rustling up coins to hock on these boards every month so they view your presence as tolerable but annoying. You amplify the problem by behaving in a manner that is unnatural- and this is something that is within your power to reduce.
Something to consider.

My empath hardly ever goes through TC. Not sure what you're talking about there.
You should consider your own presence to be an anathema to the average person- as they're full aware that you're just rustling up coins to hock on these boards every month so they view your presence as tolerable but annoying.
That's not entirely true. All of my characters get experience, find loot and earn silvers. How is this any different than what 99% of the people who play this game do?
You amplify the problem by behaving in a manner that is unnatural- and this is something that is within your power to reduce.

Blame Simu for their awesome loot system.
Shit like this is exactly why I can't/won't play Prime ever again. "Why are you hunting here! You're too old for this place". "OMG my eyes! Screen scroooooll". (No shit, huh? A text game, where virtually every action leaves its mark on the screen. Who the fuck are you to tell me what I can or can't do when I play?) The screen scroll complaints have to be one of the most irritatingly stupid things I've ever seen. Perfect example: Guild audience reps. Whoever decided to make them should be slapped, but it's likely too late to ever see them removed at this point. No one likes them, even the people killing your poor little eyeballs with the screen scroll.
What difference is it if I'm doing audience reps or a couple people are constantly yapping in a resting area (it's even more special when they have awesome items like censers that add even more shit I personally don't care about on the screen)? I hear with regard to audience reps that people don't want to see them, you should get a few people that don't mind watching and go someplace else to do them. Fuck you! I don't want to hear you and your buddy talk, so pack up and do it somewhere else. But for some reason, it's perfectly acceptable for the people to chat it up in my presence- items included- despite the fact that it's making that screen scroll away.
Someone please explain the logic behind why it is acceptable for some things to present the dreaded lines of text on your screen while it's abhorrent for other things to do the same.
That's not entirely true. All of my characters get experience, find loot and earn silvers. How is this any different than what 99% of the people who play this game do?
You didn't do it in a way that was approved of by the other person(s) in the area. Too many special snowflakes think their way is the law and unfortunately the GMs obviously enforce this behavior.

I don't supplement my income with any aspect of this game. I don't script hunt or even script sell things at any shops anywhere, yet I still think this argument is retarded. As another poster said this entire game is nothing but text and screen scroll. Being mad that someone is selling things faster than you like at a shop just sounds like bitching to me.

You do understand that you're talking to a dog with glasses and hands? Look at his avatar. How can you get mad at a talking dog?
Also, there used to be a lot more screen scroll in the game before Simu made certain actions invisible to third parties. These days, just about everyone scripts, whether it's ;go2, ;sloot3, or some spell-up script. And many more people are idling AFK in resting areas. The game has changed.

If you don't know they are in the room how is it poaching? At a glance it is a room free of players with mobs that you can kill.
Script or no if I don't know you're in the room I'm going to light the mob up before you can say "Dude I'm super sneaky here forsooth brah"...but if there is a disk I wait a second or two to see you either attack or the disk to move on.

I view poaching as someone walking into a room, instantly searching my dead kill, and then moving to the next room. I don't view poaching as me hiding.. getting ready to strike and someone coming in and attacking the monster I was attacking.

If I don't have a disk I get annoyed if someone walking into a room of proned/stunned/fucked up critters, proceeds to kill them (or search the dead ones I already killed) and runs out.
If it's just (a|some) creature(s) without status effects and I'm ambushing without a disk, I cannot really blame them. Lots of creatures at the upper end of the game it has to be a more kill first, talk about it after, sort of situation... and even after 20 years they haven't stopped spawning.

If someone wants to work it into their scripts to detect when someone in the shadows whistles you could add this:
def ambusher_here?
matchtimeout 1, /You hear someone whistling in the shadows|reproduction of the whistle|You hear someone whistling like a bird/
end
which as an example... you could use like this as a scripting roamer:
loop {
echo "ambusher detected" if ambusher_here?
sleep 0.5
}
so that if you're an ambusher you could simply run this (provided they aren't using some weird movement pattern):
while line=get
fput "whistle bird shrike" if line =~ /just arrived/ and hidden? && GameObj.npcs.length > 0 # we don't want to spam people if there aren't any creatures in the room
end
and it should catch all of the various different whistles a person can make:
>;gem-test
--- Lich: gem-test active.
You hear someone whistling in the shadows.
[gem-test: ambusher detected]
You hear someone whistling in the shadows.
[gem-test: ambusher detected]
You hear someone produce a fair reproduction of the whistle of a shrike.
[gem-test: ambusher detected]
You hear someone produce a skillful reproduction of the whistle of a merlin.

Well, when you call anyone who uses these extremely common scripts to sell loot an idiot, you sorta invite people to respond in kind. I'm not playing that game, but speaking as someone who uses a lot of scripts, including sloot, but never full automation (bigshot, etc.), my opinion is that you're overreacting. And this is a common theme. I'm not sure why some folks are able to shrug off the annoying, the OOC, and the outright offensive where others seems incapable of letting anything slide. One guy on the officials today suggested we should implement movement RT, endurance, or similar systems designed to prevent players from moving in and out of rooms quickly - simply because he was annoyed at a scripter moving in and out of a node that should have been an off-limits boundary, but evidently was not added to the script.
From my perspective, while I can certainly understand how things like sloot may be mildly annoying, I really don't understand why the scope of this problem seems so great to you folks that all scripters are idiots, assholes, etc. and basically whatever ridiculous scheme we contrive to shoot ourselves in the foot, as long as it slows those darn scripters down it'll be worth it! I just don't understand you. It doesn't make even a little bit of sense to me.

Wizards are notorious for being selfish pricks who refuse to spell up even their closest of friends without some sort of handout or reciprocated favor.

Yeah no. I used to give out free full spell ups all the time. Especially when people advertised paid spell ups.

Anyone else want to rep me for the post I made in this thread...in March?
Guess you're paying attention as much as you pay attention to your scripts when running, which is not much...

You are super mad. Get a disk or get better at hunting. Those are your options.
You forgot report.
You ever get tired of acting like a full blown idiot?
You don't. Why would I?
It's funny you're so upset about this. If you get all the scripters banned, you turn gemstone into modus operandi.
I mean, i guess there's an off-chance that if the profitability drops out simu might open source it and people who actually give a shit could put real effort into it. Which, ironically, would probably be the scripters (or at least main script developers).
I'm trolling.
Oh my bad. I got you confused with Wraithbringer.

Pay attention. Try and keep up.
Tgo has been script hunting for a good while now and he has modified his scripts a lot to be nicer to people. He has also been reported who knows how many times and hasn't failed a check that I've heard about. So, good luck on getting him banned.
Thanks.
Yea! It's the shitty scripters ruining for all of us! :(
I know!
I suspect that the good scripters could script getting Wrathbringer banned if they wanted to.
This doesn't make sense, yet tgo laughed. Must have been scripted.
