Just because you got an RPA does not mean you did the right thing! LOL All it means is you RP'd the thing well, and I never said you did not. What I did say was that you belong to the council and you were in the lead assassin's way when he was trying to murder Solmarar for his words. Unless you RP a character who is just 'spying' on COL as a member or something, then I don't understand why your character attacked him. That's just my perception though, I don't think you RP'd it poorly.

It is indeed sad that you attacked him. In an IC light, you should be expelled from the order. You attacked the Grand Assassin of the Council while he was taking care of an oath breaker.

That event would have been better had you not killed him and allowed him to really tear into Solmarar. He would have learned not to speak of the Council aloud.

However, I do not fault you for having fun. Evarin doesn't know you killed Lacheis. I would not go spreading that around.

Ah but I didn't kill Lacheis. Unfortunately the attritions system, as it is, reduced my damage to a mere 100. As a dark elf, he had more hit points. Even as a halfling cleric, myself, I have 110. As Drumpy has said, the naginata is a rather wimpy weapon, although you can field a great AS with it.

Totally agree with you on that, which is why I said that although I think he RP'd it well, I don't understand why a COL member would attack the chief assassin simply because he was pushed out of the way. :?:

Dhuul has no loyalty to such an organization, as shown in the final step of the Council of Light, the Council has no respect for its members. Dhuul is bound to the army of darkness when the end comes, that is all, nothing can alter that. Lacheis is just some freelance thug of the Dark Ones.

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure he's an official assasin for CoL, but there is a chance I could be very wrong.

Basically, anyone who mastered CoL, has their soul owned by CoL. Thus, they are owned by CoL.. so yeah, from an IC light, he definately should have been punished for what he did. It's like being in a mob: your boss sends an assassin to kill someone for blabbering, and then you attack the assassin cause you were in their way.. the mob boss should be fuckin pissed at you.

Lacheis is indeed the Grand Assassin of the Council. Does anyone remember the roleplaying events in the Landing? Who do you think beheaded the Mayor? He has also appeared in the Council chambers at several various times.

Perhaps I will write up a proposal and see if there is any mechanics in place to have people excommunicated.

Anyone who mentions COL or the Council should be swiftly killed and repeated offenses should be dealt with MUCH more harshly than currently:

If you are in COL

First offense - Warning whisper from the Assassin
Second Offense - Neck slit by the Assassin
Third Offense - Spirit death and knocked down 5 ranks in COL
Fourth Offense - Spirit death and knocked down 15 ranks in COL
Fifth Offense - Stripped of all ranks and booted out of the Council

If you are in Voln or in no society

First offense - Warning whisper from the Assassin
Second Offense - Neck slit by the Assassin
Third Offense - Spirit death
Fourth Offense - Spirit death and a dark haze on the character that is a self contained 'sanctuary' that prevents the character from attacking anything, but does not protect the character at all. This haze also prevents the character from wielding a weapon or having any spells on. This haze lasts 12 hours.
Fifth Offense - Spirit death and the dark haze lasts 48 hours and doubles after each offense.

I play only Evarin, and I assure you, justification for murder is not a new or difficult concept for him.

To answer your question, let me first state that the second half of your comment was to what I was alluding. The mentality that you would kill someone for annoying you is not one commonly held by a "Good" character.

However, as for justification for killing monsters, there are several routes you could take.

1. You hunt only Undead. Voln allows for a guilt free avenue of slaughter.

2. Kill monsters that are known to attack/threaten town. Looking at River's Rest, most creatures are seen as a menace to the town. Ridding the countryside of these creatures would be seen as a service to the cities population.

I agree 100%. I would be quite happy to see this enforced. Moreover, I believe that players should be given the option to gain ranks above that of the standard Council mastery.

For some reason, I don't know why, but Solmarar is highlighted maroon in my window. What this means is, he's done something(s) very OOC and/or snertish that NONE of my characters will offer him any services. (healing, locksmithing, raising, spells, etc)

He's not "Kill on Sight" red though, which means it wasn't something IC.

Wish I remembered what happened.

I'm defintely going to start reporting those occurances just to see the assassin put a hurtin' on them.

Every part, every line, every curve splits into two, and slowly separates. As the outlines become more pronounced, Geremiah reaches up with his left hand and grabs the copy, pulling it away from the original. The glow fades from both objects and they solidify, looking almost identical to the original, and feeling a little lighter.

CHALLENGE {CHARACTER} {RULE} {REASON} [ON BEHALF OF]

RULES Blood: Challenge ends at first blood.
Stun: Challenge ends when one combatant is stunned.
Pain: The challenge ends when one of the combatants
falls below 30% of their total health.
Death: Challenge ends when one of the combatants is dead.

REASONS Honor: Your honor was violated by your opponent
and you seek satisfaction.
Murder: You or a friend were murdered recently.
Justice: You seek justice for crimes committed
against yourself or others.
Theft: You seek justice for a theft you have witnessed.
Contest: You wish to engage in a duel of skills.

You may not issue a challenge for murder or theft on a whim. You must
have proof. However, a valid charge cannot be denied by your assailant.

If you are seeking to avenge someone, name that person after your reason.
You may only act as a proxy on someone's behalf for reasons of honor,
murder, or justice, and they must be present when the challenge is issued.

Once accepted, a challenge lasts ten minutes or until a victory is determined.

Just as a side note, on an IC sort of thing - I don't know Evarin, or what kinda character he is, but most of my characters hate this sort of indecisiveness. I play a few "true believers" of various philosophies, including CoL, and if I said something about it IC, I'd have reason and justification for it. And no one would change my mind, short of an Arkati (and then, only for my true believers in religious doctrines), let alone some BRAWN for an organization led by such an inept fool as the Poohbah, who probably hasn't picked up a book in his whole life, and instead practices flicking his silly little daggers at people.

... So? If you interact with a GM, you are basically guarunteed an RPA unless you do absolutely terrible.

Who says you have to like the society to be in it and use it's powers? As I remember it, when you master and he tells you about owning your soul and whatnot, your blood runs cold. Basically, you feel trapped unless you know the "secret" way to get out. So maybe he's just getting revenge?

Kicking him out would probably do him a favor from an IG perspective.

Heh. Regardless of the questionable intent, the roleplaying was pretty good, all-in-all. Personally, had I been Lacheis, I'd have petitioned the Poohbah and had you summarily dismissed from the society...after I killed you. :D

I did, however, know someone who felt sorry for the Poobah, thinking he'd been abused as a child and became what he is because of that abuse. This character stayed in the society to try to convince the Poohbah to give up his evil ways and step into the light. It was really pretty funny. ;)

They own his soul. Last I checked, you shouldn't be able to go and do something against someone that owns your soul (without a little more consequence).. my opinion once again.

Lacheis is just some dark elf thug...anyone can see that. Throwing daggers at people in a sanctuary? Pft. He had no reason to kill Solmarar so many times, Dhuul knows Solmarar to be a mostly harmless, rather insane Sheru worshipper who puts no effort towards self-preservation.

Technically, CoL has no master. In the ICE age, they served the Unlife (definitely not Luukos). However, with de-ICEing, the Unlife don't really exist anymore. CoL, while being the only non-Voln society, does not serve Luukos.

A) Solmarar is a fucking idiot.
B) Solmarar would not stop speaking of CoL.
C) Lacheis is an NPC and can do just about whatever the fuck he wants.
