Selling some nice picking gloves - rub to activate. Take them off and the spell goes away. These were won via Droughtmans a ways back... See below for actions:

MB is 15m
BO is 25m

You slip a pair of black leather gloves with faceted cerulean crystal fingertips over your hands.
>

>rub gloves
You rub your black leather gloves.
1d100: 94 + Modifiers: 186 == 280

A scintillating light surrounds your hands.
Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

Nice gloves. Good luck with the sale.

as it tends to happen, i'm a little confused. wouldn't self-knowledge mean you can prep and cast the spell?

No need to prep - just rub the gloves (as long as you are wearing them)

I thought these were Unlimited rubs, at no mana. Similar to the scarf and stuff?

Alright - might be the booze or stupidity, but someone needs to explain to me the difference. You definitely do not need to know this spell to cast it. Also, since my level 5 paladin was able to use these without issue, I don't think there is much in the way of resctircions....

self knowledge means you cast the spell as if its one from your own circle, self mana takes mana to use, and unlimited usage is basically a real nice imbed

I learn new stuff all the time here!

Well put. I will hopefully remember this moving forward....

It sounds like unlimited use imbeds would trump the others on an item like this, same end effect no mana used?

Knowing the spell vs using an imbed gives a greater benefit to the lore.. Unless I'm mistaken. Making a self knowledge item similar to a locksmith learning the lore spell but not having to invest training points in spells that they may rather use on something else

I thought the benefit was only half effective when someone else cast it on ya? I thought imbeds were like having the spell? I could be wrong...

If there was a disarming one to go along with this I would consider it so I can get rid of all spells. Heh... Don't know if the cost would justify.

If the spell is being cast from a scroll and the caster does not have personal knowledge of the spell (3 ranks in minor elemental spells), the spell loses 10 to 50% of its effectiveness if self-cast. If the caster is casting the spell onto another, the bonus is reduced by another 50%.

Ah gotcha. Thanks for the info! So I'm stuck with having to know magics...

Wonder if it's even less of a bonus if someone uses an imbed to cast it at you..

You'll notice how it said from a scroll and nothing was said about halving the bonus from imbeds, although it says it is halved for 404 if you read it on KP. I have also heard the same thing, that you get the full bonus from imbeds but not from scrolls. You also get a better bonus by knowing more MnE spells, so knowing 404 means you have a slight extra bonus to 403 and you'll want to get more MnE spells beyond that at some point anyway.

So if I learn more MnE my picking skill will increase?

For manual lockpicking, success factors include the caster's level, the caster's Pick Locks skill, the caster's Minor Elemental spell ranks, and the target's Dexterity bonus. At no time will the spell provide a bonus greater than the target's Pick Locks skill.

Yeah I read that too, but there aren't really any numbers on how much of a benefit.

Also on play.net it says only a ranger has the potential to get the full benefit depending on their MIU.
