I'm thinking of finally breaking down and buying a fixstats potion...but what's the going rate on these things? A premium player can buy one for 165 bucks, right?

What have they been going for silver wise lately?

Not that I don't trust the person I bought this from but I probably should have asked before buying one...what exactly is a fixstat potion called?

And how do I go about using it? Do I just drink it and I can redo my stats at the inn? Does it automatically grant me a fixskills too or is there some trick regarding that as well?

You do get a fixskill with it I believe. That said learn from my mistake. If you are are switching weapon types and need to change around your cmans just remove all the points from combat maneuvers and reapply them after the fixskill. Otherwise youll be hit with a week of cman migration while switching wspec around...

Yeah, I'd just set all skill goals to zero really before checking in with a fixstat since your tp's are going to change.
