Bush is starting to look stronger, and has a solid grip on 236 of those votes (excluding Florida, because its still a toss up there, even though it was registered as being larger than a 5% margin by the most recent poll).
Kerry's got a firm grip on 186 electoral votes (excluding New Hampshire and Michigan polls, which have been moved into too close to call regions, even though they show a 5% or more lead at the moment through the latest poll).
Of the remaining 117 electoral votes in the battleground states, kerry will need to win at least 84 of them. That may be too much to overcome with Florida beginning to lean Bush, and his strategic withdrawal of advertising money in Missouri and Arkansas.
In other news, most reports project the senate to gain 1 republican seat or 2 seats to a 51-48 edge, or a 52-47 edge, by no means enough to overcome any filibusters, but enough to keep in line with their agendas.

So in other words, either one could win. What a shock!

Reading through their FAQ. Jesus, I hope this doesn't happen:
What happens if the electoral vote is a tie or nobody gets 270 EVs?
The newly-elected House of Representatives chooses the president, with each state getting one vote. The new Senate chooses the VP. If the House ties 25 states to 25 states, the new VP acts as president. If the new Senate ties 50-50 and the House breaks 25-25, a joint session of Congress is called for a prayer meeting to ask for divine guidance since the constitution doesn't help much in this case. See the Electoral college page for more information.
Is this legit? That shit is whack.

I wouldnt say in the bag, but it's getting close to being a foregone conclusion. It isn't going to be a blowout by any means, but if Florida sways a bit more, it's essentially over.
Kerry will and should win Michigan, and he has a better than 50-50 chance in pennsylvania, but it simply isn't enough.
The northeast and the far west are predominantly Democrat, but the rest of the country is the other way around.
Even Polls in California show Kerry having only about half the margin that Gore had in 2000. Kerry will need to pull off some very strong showings in the debates in order to make this election competitive again. Historically, the debates have had little effect on national percentages.
What also seems to be hurting Kerry right now is his partisanship. He is trying to show himself as more moderate, and progressive, yet he won't give up his senate seat during this election. This will come back to haunt him, it is just a matter of when the card gets played. Right now, he is not capable of fulfilling his duties as a Senator while he is campaigning. Yet, a partisan motivation has encouraged him to keep his seat, and not vote, and not do his job while he runs for office.

I appreciate that you said it, PB. This way Tamral gets it out in this thread rather then making another one.
Damn, too late.

Have I created threads about how Bush is evil? Do 90% of my posts deal with politics/Bush slamming? My hatred?
My political threads consist of asking people about how their families vote.
Take that, Bush!
Lets take a look at the last few threads you've created, shall we?
Tamral - 13 things Kerry must do to take the election

In your opinion that is. I think he starts with some rambling, becomes rabid and flees when asked to back up the statement.
