A friend of mine was looking for a new cell plan, and came across this little company...

If you're like anyone I've ever met and bitch about phone prices, might be worth looking into. Here's an article on what's up with this company, cause I didn't buy it at first.

http://www.cnbc.com/id/101404127

" An average plan that includes 500 MB of data costs $85 a month in the U.S., compared with $8.80 in the U.K. and $24.10 in China, according to the International Telecom Union.

Yet as we told you here in October, FreedomPop is offering a comparable plan for free, and has now cut the cost of a more-robust plan targeted at higher-end smartphone users by more than half. "

Fuck you, AT&T. I'm out.

Sounds too good to be true. 4.58 per month for unlimited everything except 500mb of data? What's the catch?

Evidently nothing. I guess you sacrifice some quality- more dropped calls and such since they're internet dependent.

If nothing else it's worth watching. The article makes sense to me.

It's impossible to offer free plans, ask Solomon. Therefore, their argument is invalid.

Wow... so Obama really didn't spend that much on giving all those people phones... what a jerk. Thanks Obama!

Heh, enjoy your 500 MBs of data.

I used to have one of the MyFi things from Sprint. It had like 750 MB of data. Once you go over that it gets expensive QUICK. I think it was also like 2 1/2 cents a MB that you go over. I only used it to play GS and a little internet, but I still had a few months of 100+ dollar bills. (The cost was like $39.95 a month under the contract.)

Just because it's cheap somewhere else doesn't mean it's cheap when the US government is involved.

It is never cheap when the Government is involved.

Except, you know, when business gets involved it mysteriously never gets cheaper.

One could compared UPS or FedEx to USPS. I'm not speaking of the Government selling to consumers, however. I'm referring to the Government spending itself.

PMCs to the actual military? The Affordable Care Act to the VA? The Postal Service is a strange case. They've actually always been an odd sort of corporation.

What of them? I don't quite understand what point you are trying to make... All four of those sorta come from Government spending.

The "privatization is magically more efficient!" Republican talking point really doesn't work.

I never said that. I said the Government often overpays for things. They do.

ACA's website is a pretty prime example.

Is not the ACA an extension of VA-like quality healthcare?

Unfortunately, government involvement is predominantly the worse option.

Do you ever do anything besides deflect and OMG REPUBLICANS anymore?

Everybody knows government overspends on pretty much anything they do. Except you I guess.
