Probably the best one in years. I loved the new format. The joking back and forth between Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders was awesome, and the players definitely stepped up their game from previous years. I loved seeing the teammate on teammate action. It was easy for me to go for Team Rice since Drew Brees made sure all the Saints were on his team.

This guy I know that used to be normal and now went all super Jesus while simultaneously believing that reptilian illuminati are taking over Earth and their true form is only exposed through a video camera thinks that God made the Saints lose because he's mad over fans calling Drew Brees "Breesus".
He also thought that the goatse cloud photoshop was really the hands of God and argued for hours about it even after it was proven to be a photoshop.

Not really, because they were really shitty. The one last night was pretty good though.

I'm usually too pissed to watch the probowl because my Patriots have just been eliminated, plus it historically sucks. Now you have me considering watching next year.

What a bunch of the players said is that they didn't want to let Jerry Rice or Deion Sanders down. Obviously they aren't going at 100% speed, during PATs the defense just sorta stands up and they don't even try to stop it... But it is a definite improvement. I'd say old Probowls were at about 20-30% speed. This one was about 70-80%. There were some BIG hits that would have made any regular season highlight reel though.

Maybe God photoshopped it.

If that were the case then who invented Photoshop and taught God how to use it?

Ya it was a pretty good Pro Bowl. Personally, I'd like to see them get rid of it. I can't ignore the Pete Rose/Ray Fosse 1970 All Star game collision. Football may be different though because if you screw up and put someone out of the league in this game, you'll be a big target for cheap shots next year.
I'd like to see them do an event where they show off the individual athletes more. Make the linemen do a strongman contest or skills guy run the obstacle course. Battle of the NFL network stars type thing.

I can't recall ever watching a Pro Bowl where they actually tried to block a PAT. With the recent talk of potentially removing it entirely putting out some stats regarding blocks/missed attempts, I think it's safe to say that's the last play anyone is going to risk getting hurt on and if you're going to take a play off... well, that's the one.

Um. They used to do that at the Pro Bowl the day before. I kinda stopped watching when they ditched that. Thought it was kinda cool to see the guys out there doing the various competitions. I did watch this one, though, cause I expected it to be a much better game with the new format and all that came with it. I think the captain and draft aspects should keep it interesting even if the trash talking and whatnot is 'manufactured' (ie Brandon Marshall; pick me last I'm gonna make you pay, etc).

I think the probowl would make the perfect testing ground for rules they plan to put into the regular season.

I think the probowl would make the perfect testing ground for rules they plan to put into the regular season. The perfect testing ground is a minor league: professional players competing, but with lower stakes (in the form of public consumption) and thus lower consequences for inapt tampering. That the use of college football as a de facto minor league (and college players as de facto slave labor) would come back to bite the NFL in the butt is deliciously ironic, no?

The USFL is supposedly restarting in 2015 to play during the off season as a sort of "development league." They are saying the NFL, CFL, and Arena will have "unfettered access to players." I think it could be successful so long as they stay with the development league format and do not try to compete with the NFL.

Sherman's rant must have given them a hard on. Maybe I'm thinking of the XFL. haha
One thing that would be cool about this league, if it works, is that they might let kids play there for 3 years before they are draft eligible.

Some kids straight out of college just aren't ready for the NFL. I think Tebow is an example. Given time to develop they could be amazing. Look at the MLB for example. I am just happy to have continuous football year round. And you know they will play hard because they want NFL scouts to see them.

Even the NFL doesn't quite know how to deal with concussions yet, and they have enormous resources to devote to that issue. An independent minor league would have (even more) catastrophic long-term consequences to its players.

I could honestly give two shits about player health, if they don't know what they are getting into they are retarded.

I don't think the players give a shit either for the most part.

While it's true that organized sports get a lot of legal outs other businesses don't (e.g. anti-trust), it would surprise me if this turned out to be one.

Well, and also the fact that in Professional Sports, currently (not speaking of the past) they get paid quite a bit more then the average American. Factory workers did not.

Factory workers did not. That can certainly influence your opinion, but again I don't think it has legal merit. A coal miner makes more than double the average in some states, that doesn't make coal mines free for alls: the Upper Big Branch disaster resulted in a $10.8m fine for the company and a 21 month prison sentence for a supervisor.

I mean sure, but as you know business owners have infinite wisdom and therefore do not want to engage in actively illegal behavior (that they can't get away with anymore).
