Ok, I'm fiending to see this movie but haven't gotten a day off yet. Is it as good as the first one? No spoilers, just lemme know if the wait was worth it!

As good as the first one?
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AHHAAHAHAHAHA
Shes a lot more bad ass than in the 1st one. They did a really good job I think maintaining everything from the 1st one and recapping. Overall I thought it was a lot of fun although there is a setup for #3 which looked only .. okay.

I liked it. I thought it was better in the first one simply because two female lead heroines > one. Felt like there was more action but goddamnit they moved just a little too quickly for my taste.
The one thing is that that action sequences move so fast they are hard to keep up with at times. They are still cool but sometimes your like did she hit him or did he hit her?

I think it was one of the worst movies I have ever seen I leaned over to my fiance and asked if we could leave like 30 minutes into the movie.
The plot felt rushed and it was more or less dumb action most of the time and I don't think I have ever seen people dodge so many bullets in any movie and yes I know its "just a movie" but video games rarely ever do go as movies and it holds true here.

In terms of plot translation to the big screen, I think RE did a much better job than Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat and Super Mario. Not that the comment really says much in itself.
I don't know why end-to-end action sequences would surprise anyone going into a movie based on a video game. I didn't see any trailers that hinted at anything deeper than shoot-em-up stuff.
For some reason, I thought the last 20 minutes or so of action in the movie was the best paced in the entire film.

I wouldn't have thought it was possible to dress Kylie Minogue up as Cammy and have her not be hot.

I agree, the action was too intense, too close up and too many camera cuts furing the fighting which I suppose they did to help make the fights look more real since they were so unreal. Better than the first? No way. Not even as good as the first, but it was good. And it was a major set up for #3.

Apoclypse got major plus points because Jill was hella hot.

Jill was hella hot but I wish she would of had a bigger role, she alone made me feel like I was watching a video game because she was dressed and looked exactly like her character.

Both movies are shit. They are testimony to how dramatically devoid the majority of the Hollywood action movie genre are today in both quality and originality. Of course, why should we expect anything different from the director of Mortal Kombat? Makes a mockery of the original game that spawned the film, as well as other movies that influenced the game. Depressing.
I liked mario brothers the movie

What kind of original content are you looking for in a movie based on a video game? Did you want a whole re-write like Final Fantasy Spirits from Within?
The quality I thought was pretty decent. Special Effects were good. Wardrobe looked good. Music kept me going.

Fortunately, we all disagree on what makes a good movie. For instance, I think Titanic was about as entertaining as a shitstain, but evidently every other person in the world loved it.

I always get a laugh when people walk into a film like Resident Evil and expect something more than a simple shoot-em-up movie.
ITS RESIDENT EVIL
I enjoyed the film.

It wasn't even good for a shoot em up though all the scenes were gay. Espically the parts where someone runs and bullets follow behind them but they always keep ahead of them and things like windows, walls, and other random objects take all the beating. There are great action movies this is not one.
WTF? You go and see Resident Evil and expect some deep plot? If so, you're fucking stupid and should be banned from the movies. It's an action movie to go and kill some time and have fun with.

When I see a movie called Resident Evil, I expect to be reminded of the old Saturn days.
That's not the case. The movie sucks.

You didn't enjoy the end fight scene at all? I thought that was decently done. Any scene with flick sticks is worth watching (Equilibrium)

If your talking to me I didn't expect a deep plot I was just stating that for an action movie I thought it even sucked. The actions scenese sucked and it was hard to tell what was going on half the fucking time. IT SUCKED!

I was going to mention Equilibrium but it's a tad different than Resident Evil. Such a good movie.

RE 1 was better. I don't think anyone will argue that. However, it certainly did a better job than any other video game movie out right now. The only thing that comes close is some of the Street Fighter Anime. The Tekan(sp) anime sucked. The SF movie was laughable. The first Mortal Combat movie was decent at it's very best, certainly no better than RE 1 or 2.
Wing Commander??
Mario Brothers ??
Look at the standard you are comparing the film against.

And....Let us not even bring up ...House of the Dead ...
House of the dead should have been left dead. The game sucked, the movie sucked harder.

That movie was so incredibly bad. Watch that, then you will see what they were able to do with RE. What RE could have been.
Seriously, I'm a pretty un judgemental guy with movies. Usually Kung fu= good ass movie, but House of the dead made me cry. Seriously.

House of the Dead, ugh. I think I had a mental block on it when I came up with that other list.
You'd think whoever cut the movie would realize that flashing GAMEPLAY screens during the film is just a shitty idea.

I thought it was fun to watch. We just went for Milla and see her kick ass, which she did.

House of the Dead was the worst movie I've ever seen. It was just unbelievable how bad it was. It's like they weren't even trying.
Resident Evil: Apocalypse I loved. I loved the first one and I love the second one and I love the games. I did NOT love the Code Veronica comics, but nothing is perfect. I can be pretty damn picky about movies (King Arthur hurt me to my SOUL) but I find myself very willing to let stuff go for RE.
Even with the huge plot holes. Like why the fuck were uninfected people rising from the dead? And how did they manage to leave the word "zombie" out of the movie again? Do none of the characters ever go to the movies?
I'm editing it to add that one of my favorite parts of the RE movies are the sensible boots all the female characters wear. Jill has some fuck-me high heels at first but by the time she gets around to kicking ass, she's got some nice flat boots on.

Saying "what do you expect" is no excuse. More has been created from less hundreds of times over. Aliens was made from a prompt of one line. If the initial idea hasn't got much originality or scope, then the writers can add elements of such to it. RE 1 & 2 had neither added to them. Just mindless drivel that won't be remembered in five years.
