Hey dudes,

First time posting here so...hi!

Secondly, MSP seems like a real hassle for a young bard I'm at lvl 25 and I'm just wondering if MSP ever stops being a factor, and what I should be training to make my life easier...is ML Telepathy the best way to go? Should I get some EMC to get a little more mana per pulse? Or do I just have to tough it out?

The only thing you can train in to reduce the actual penalty is more bard spell ranks.

What all songs do you have going at once?

Depending on how high your penalty is it sometimes makes more sense to start singing a song, then stop singing it, then renew it after your song renewal begins because you keep the effect of (most) songs even after you stop singing that song until your renewal.

This always makes sense with 1003 because the renewal is 1 mana and to sing it again is only 3 so it costs 2 more mana to keep doing this but if your multisong penalty is higher than 2 then it makes sense to do what I just suggested. If that makes sense. Whirlin could probably explain this better than me.

You could also download the lich script song-manager which basically does all of this for you so you can set it and forget it. Unless you wanted to remember it in which case you can set it and remember it.

Thanks for the help. I'm way too lazy to manually renew lower level songs but if there is a script that would be a solid option.

I'm trying to sing a lot, and I might be expecting too much at this stage. I basically have to sing 1007, 1010, 1012 and 1014. I'd also like to have 1003 and 1019 up. What I'm finding myself having to do is timing mana pulses with renewal time so that I can last a full hunt without having to worry. It's just a little weirs and probably frustrating to people I'm hunting with when I constantly have to wait for specific pulse/renewal timing before I'm ready to roll.

This might just be part of being a bard, but that's why I'm asking.

Yeah I think the multisong penalty was designed so bards would have to make choices on which songs they wanted up all the time until they got high enough level where they could sing more songs.

Other than the trick I already mentioned about starting/stopping certain songs you could probably drop 1014 for now and just grab some regular 4x armor of the same kind. I don't know how many bard song ranks you have but at level 25 if you had 25 ranks you'd only be losing 7 DS which shouldn't be a huge problem for your level.

I could get some 4x armor, and I already picked up a nice naginata so I don't have to sing a weapon all the time. But sonic armor is so light that it really helps keeping my rt down even if I've got a box or two. The real problem is that bard songs are so good I don't wanna pick and choose....but I suppose that's the game(and why msp exists)

As you learn more songs, and likely have your stats grow, you'll be able to sing more songs without penalty. Naturally as you gain more ranks in HP you'll also have more mana to power more songs.

By level 70 or so I would routinely keep up 1006,1007,1009,1010, 1014,1018,1019 with a start/stop of 1003. An alternate incarnation around that level included a 1025 longbow following me around as well. Lots of choices as a bard, and naturally can't afford them all.
