Krag Dwellers, seriously wtf?

I'm at a loss for what's happening here. My ranger started hunting krag dwellers/yetis at level 67. He's a pure ranger so he just hunts the yetis.

For the first couple of days it was great, no deaths, heck he hardly even receive any wounds. I thought I had found the perfect hunting spot for him.

Then it started one day, a death! GASP! No biggie, deaths happen.

Then it started becoming a daily occurrence. No problem. I can handle one death a day. I guess.

But then yesterday he died about 5 times. Today so far he has died 3 times going from needing a little under 8k exp to 4200 exp. That's 1 death for every 1200 experience he gets.

And they all happen because of those stupid rocks/boulders. He's also level 70 now, aren't these things supposed to get easier to avoid as you get higher levels? He's also fully 1xed in perception and physical fitness, has mobility and blurs up at all times and is never encumbered and he's a halfing.

Am I just going through a bout of some serious bad luck now or did I have some serious good luck for the last 3 levels hunting here? Do I need some CM training to avoid these rocks or what?

Encumbered? That always got me when I didnt pay attention to the cash or when carrying to many boxes.

He's never been encumbered when he died :(

I managed to get another 1000 experience since my last post...I hope he doesn't die soon...

Those guys are seriously some of the easier critters to hunt around level 70 so if you are getting beat up it's a bad sign.

My open Archer ranger lvl 64 hunts there and lesser Minos. If I have to hunt the dwellers I have to make sure they are on the ground or I usually take some hits and I never stay in a room with more than one dweller in it.

Everyone has their own way of doing things but I always hunt like my character is marked for death. With a sorcerer, the krag dweller maneuver attack was like the focused implosion of a vaespilon, i.e. instant death. So, my strategy with either creature is to never go toe-to-toe with them. A krag dweller on its feet is a krag dweller that can kill you at any second. I recommend using PEER to look into every room before entering. The advice above about running from two or more dwellers is sound. Maneuver defense stuff is important but secondary to smart hunting. Padded and protected armor helps if you can find it. You need to be trained for your armor, unencumbered insofar as possible, and in defensive stance as often as possible. Yeah I run away from all dwellers and always run when there are two or more critters in the room.

Nope, I don't use enhancives. That's a good idea though because I never would have thought of that even if I did.

No dodge training but he is properly trained for his armor.

Well I hit level 71 about an hour ago and so far so good. Maybe I just needed to get that little bit of extra help by leveling.
