View Full Version : Guild help?

There were a couple topics about a Guild night, but they're all inactive and pretty old. I've come back to the lands after a hiatus and I'm trying to work on Gambits; nobody is ever on the amunet anymore and when I try to ask on LichNet all I get is a bunch of hostile non-rogues responding with pretty rude comments. What's the best way to go about asking for guild help these days?

Not sure what period you're from (coming back from a hiatus) but welcome back. That's pretty much how GS is now, it's hard to find guild partners for most things. I've never found people on LichNet all that helpful, they're usually, like you said, rude.
Easiest way is to WHO PROF ROGUE and try to ask individual rogues if they'd care to work on the guild with you. MA'ing is always another option, roll up a new rogue and get it to guild level to work with you. It sounds time consuming (and it kinda is) but it may actually be faster in the end.
Either way, hope you find someone to work with you. The guild system is kind of dying with the population - I remember when I started there were always rogues everywhere opening boxes and doing guild crap - now everyone just uses the town locksmith rather than wait around. Seems to have made rogues a less popular profession. :\

Feel free to message me on Dreaven if you need some help.
If I don't happen to be busy when you message me I'll help you out.
Oh yeah and only in Icemule. I am lazy, after all.

Thanks for the responses and the welcome back, guys.
I've been in and out of the lands with my current character (Deschamps) since about 2008 or so, but I've actually been playing on and off since the GEnie days (mostly off). One rogue I used to play (Griffey) actually helped Riend get her start in the lands, now she's some big deal royalty type... kinda cool. I started up Deschamps about five years ago, but I hadn't really been around at all for the last two years. I just installed Lich about a week ago because I couldn't seem to contact ANYONE in-game through the amunet, and I was pretty disgusted by some of the talk that shows up on LNet. Out-of-character stuff is one thing, but some people's "thoughts" remind me of the idiot WoW crowd; getting away from those people was the reason I quit other MMO's and came back to GS in the first place. And now they're here.
Starting an alt probably IS the most practical soluton, but I've always stuck with one character in GS and I don't really want to change that now. It's really disappointing that everyone uses the town locksmiths now; even just a couple years ago when I played regularly, there were always people coming to me for locksmithing. Now I basically just pick my own boxes and offer locksmithing to anyone who wants it, but I've only had takers a handful of times. It's kind of depressing.
I really appreciate the offer, Tgo1. I spend most of my time around the Mule anyway, so I will definitely look for Dreaven.

The SERVICE verb is also sometimes helpful in finding people to help you with things like this.
It will be a tough slog though trying to get partner reps done

You could untune lnet but chat on prime, a good many of us are tuned to several channels. If I'm online and I'm able to swap to my rogue, I'll help you out. He's a grandmaster so he'd be able to help out with all the skills. I think Wednesday nights were the attempted night for both warrior and rogue guild work, if that is a convenient time for you I'd suggest dropping by and seeing if anyone is teaching.

I don't think I've ever seen this reaction to anyone of any guild asking for help with reps. Whatever the case, there's also the calendar on play.net (shows guild nights every week). Or you could keep asking on LNet and just ignore the people giving you shit. It's not like idiotic commentary holds you back from actually doing anything.

I tried to stay in character when I was asking for help; maybe that's what offended people. I'm not thin-skinned by any means, but I was a little taken aback by the responses.
MrMortimur, what's your rogue's name?

Yes I'd say that's what turned people off. Lent by its nature is OOC so keep things OOC there. That's not to say people won't still act like asses

This sounds amazing. I never knew about this feature. Built into Lich or actually part of GS?

I also have a rogue up to display who is a guild master. Currently in RR but available on FWI. PM for contact info. I have trouble finding a partner myself sometimes. My schedule can be a little crazy but I'm happy to help when I can.
