It was brought to my attention this may need clarification. These are wind-up birds that you wear. You can mess with them and they do things, or wind them up and they will do things on their own.

Below are the things you can do when you mess with them...
Abilene places her lapis-inlaid bluebird on her shoulder.

The lapis-inlaid bluebird lets out a low, sharp whistle while flapping its wings at Abilene in agitation. Its angry twitter continues for a few moments while it attempts to settle down.

Abilene gently strokes the back of her lapis-inlaid bluebird. The creature coos softly and stretches out its wings under the caress.

A shriek akin to the death-cry of a mongrel kobold pierces the relative silence around you. Looking over, you notice Abilene squeezing and blowing into her lapis-inlaid bluebird as if it were a bagpipe. The noise makes even a bagpipe sound good.

Abilene idly taps the beak of her lapis-inlaid bluebird. The lapis-inlaid bluebird shuffles uncomfortably as if it just awakened. It leans from foot to foot a moment before arching its neck and letting forth a beautiful trill.

Abilene points up into the air and sharply commands her lapis-inlaid bluebird to take flight. Suddenly the bluebird begins to flap its wings quickly. Slowly, it rises bare inches off her shoulder and lets out a merry trill at its accomplishment before landing again.
