I just made level 89 and am looking at changing my build to suit the three options to hunt. My options are the rift, otf, and the bowels. Currently I am an open archer with a good spikethorn and master of CoL.

I'm wondering what a good build is to be able to hunt these three areas as effective as possible. I have access to a pocket wizard which would give me a good ds. Im thinking perhaps an ambushing board and sword with a good crit weighted weapon but would like some feedback since I have been an archer for 15-20 levels.

All feedback appreciated.

I hunted the bowels exclusively as an open archer until I couldn't learn there anymore. I did have CMAN sweep which you didn't mention having. Bowel critters have to be down so they don't fall on you. Now I am capped and STILL an open archer. After the bowels I dropped VOLN and went GoS for the warcamps and such. That allowed me to cap rather quickly. I wouldn't change ranged for anything. For me it's been fun for over 60 trainings. I converted to ranged as soon as it came out. Took a few years off here and there in between everything, but for me it's always been ranged. Personally, I feel that if you've been ranged for awhile, and you like it, you'll be disappointed with anything else. There's just something about the speed and the eye shots that are the funnest.

Remain an open archer with a strong spikethorn, basically ignore the Bowels, and hunt OTF and the Rift. Avoid the Vvrael in the Rift since they have a huge bolt DS and are immune to magic and hunt the aqueducts in OTF. You can start hunting Ithzir, too, but you'll want to stick to scouts (also level 89) mostly for now.

Thanks for the advice... I've decided to go this route for sure!

I don't think you really need to change your build either. You will probably be disappointed if you switch to sword and board having been ranged for so long. Lv 89 to cap shouldn't be hard at all in OTF.

At around 90 I started putting more emphasis on advanced Ranger spell training and lores. Getting more out of your 601/613/618 is going to help keep you alive and hitting harder with 616 and 635 especially will help you kill faster since you're going to be messing around with Ithzir that swarm like crazy.

When I ran Stunseed through OTF during those levels, I used open area webs and ambushed. I just used to hang out between the spear and the opening to OTF West like a spider. An archer would make it that much quicker, though it's not proactive to the hunting scripts people use these days.
