Sithral was sitting in TC, minding his own business (for once) when a cleric I was having a feud with came in and saw Sithral and kept saying how it stunk and everything. The first time I hid and went afk (Hey give me a break.. the Football game was on!) but the second time when I was spelling up, she again said that Sithral needed a bath. So her being sylvan and Sithral being.. Sithral, he spike thorned her. Well.. that got the typical characters out in her defense.

The fact is, she didn't know. She didn't ask. She shouldn't assume.

Personally, I probably would have silenced Blinzic too for mouthing off in something that wasn't his business (your woman was accused of something, she said something rude, now she's quietly hiding behind her man?).

I don't think Tayre was out of line. She was being rude in taking his wounds without asking, and then she was rude when he confronted her with it.

There are those who engage in this sort of thing for no reason other than they enjoy the opportunity to display their "uber powers". That goes for those who attack first, and those who jump into it when it has nothing to do with them.

There are others for whom it is a part of their roleplay. They play a character who does not tolerate certain things...like dwarves, or being healed without being asked, or any number of other things.

It's hard to tell, just by reading a log, what is really going on. Sometimes, it looks like someone is just a trouble-maker when, actually, they're simply playing their character out as he/she would react. :shrug:

The fact is that an empath healed someone without their consent, or even due to a request for healing.

As much as I'm all for empaths being given some slack for healing people, I do have to admit that some people just don't want to be touched or approached without permission. So rather than her admitting that she did wrong, she gave him attitude for being confronted.

He's an empath. He doesn't NEED to be healed. Once he did the glance and told her not to, that should have been the end of it. But she dragged people into it and then warned him for something she started.

Although, some empaths don't wear their profession titles, so that doesn't always work. On the other hand, after the event, she should have apologized and explained her behavior. Her actions at that point are just plain wrong. If she didn't deserve being splattered all over the terrain before that point, she certainly deserved it then.

Also, there are just some people that think another character shouldn't gain experience by leaching wounds off of them. I agree with this totally. My non-empath characters PICK who they want to give the learning to, and it's their right to do so.

I know Blinzic.... not sure who the one with him was though. I did have to read thru the posts a couple times though, Cuz i was certain Tayre was a healer but no mention was made of that aspect for awhile.
Funny, you'd think with the amount of healers around.....a landing healer would have an idea of other landing healers...... since most of us playing GS are not sole character accounts. LOL

My other characters don't mind waiting to be healed then raised.... but with Vold, the issue is usually with people he already knows who vulture LK him and he sits and waits for what seems an eternity to be raised! He prefers to decay more often than not, usually. I'll mind until the new death mechanics kick in.

He would never refuse to be healed and raised if there is an Empath or Cleric readily available.

vulturing is a big deal. there are different aspects to look into

1. if you're an empath and you take all wounds without having consideration for any other empath that wants to learn = you're greedy.
2. you heal without permission its assumed rude. It's common curtosy to ask before healing and well... in my mind the method of transferring wounds would need some sort of physical contact but that's just IMO

1. I always ask if the patient needs healing unless they say they are about to die, then I take blood (no exp. is gained if blood is taken while the patient is still bleeding). Thus helping ensure that the patient lives to get healed properly.
2. Nod to those who ask for healing, and respecting whomever nods first to the requesting patient.
3. Being patient with the younger empaths and help them respect how to work around others of the same profession in the same area.
4. Respond to rudeness in kind, be it from patient or fellow empath.
5. Heal down some inbetween patients so other empaths have a chance to heal.


Only drawback is that some empaths do not attempt to work with the other empaths in an area and play the "its all about me" game when it comes to healing. There is no law with regards to what is the best way to heal folks, and empaths could probably put a little more effort in working with each other thus maximizing the benefit of everyone.

ok.. yes greedy because you're only thinking about yourself. If there are other empaths in the room, maybe they're younger and you don't give a shit but its still a selfish and greedy attitude to have to just go heal happy and not let someone else get a chance. Sorry if logic escapes you on this.
Another thing, you can't really compare hunting to healing. Two completely different tasks.

The two societys currently have ways to help you not die immediately. If your character is too young to have mastered either or is neutral then carry acantha/yabalithium fruit/ bloody krolvin ale ..whatever...
Most characters do carry the blood herbs anyway.

Aaysia's sorta picky, she'd rather her friends heal her than a total stranger. Though she has been known to ask occasionally for someone she doesn't know to heal her if no one else is around to do so.
If its a scratch then damn... she's a warrior, usually she'll suck it up and continue playing. If its a bleeder it can be tended or be made to be a minor wound using herbs :D

Honestly, there is nothing wrong with a group of citizens who live in a town and have a certain protocol to expect others to follow the protocol out of common courtesy. Also.. if traveling to a new town, and expecting to work in said town, you should probably take the time to at least introduce yourself and if not, at least ask what the common way is. Over a year ago means before September 10, 2003. GemStone IV was released in November 2003. So you were level 50 in GemStone III. That is equivalent to 500,000 + 30 * 50,000, or 1,500,000, experience. That would put you at about level 37. When you say "over a year ago," I can only assume it was no more than two years. To be almost capped, I'll assume you're at least level 95. That is 7,015,000 experience. In under two years, you went from 1.5 million experience to over 7 million. You put that much effort into GemStone. Who loses now?

Power hunting for 4 months does not get you 5,500,000 experience. If you got 30 experience a minute, 6 hours per day, 120 days, you'd have 1,296,000 experience. Even when you do that for a full year, you're still at less than 4,000,000.

Edited because I had to make sure who started the thread.. I don't recall anyone saying "scum of the earth" honestly, so I can't say for sure on this one. It is also the common consensus that empaths work as a whole, since they are the busiest profession in the game generally. If that is a clique, then you would have to include every empath in the game that has ever healed.
