Howdy!

I'm pretty much a warrior idiot, and I wanted to give it a shot and see what it's all about.
My plan was for a TWC morning star-wielding dark elf warrior. I haven't rolled em up yet, so its a clean slate.

I was looking for stat placement and training plan advice. Any provided will be greatly appreciated.

Halfling makes the women wet. Just saying.

1.5x TWC, 2x weapon, 2x cman, 1x MoC, 1x dodge, 2x armor.

After that it's up to you. I'd recommend at least 2x TWC and as much MoC as possible.

That site should help with stat placement

As far as a training plan:
2x twc
2x blunts
2x cman
2x PF
1.5-2x dodge
2-3x armor
1x MoC
1x perception

1x climb/swim

Shaking the water off your feet like a shaggy dog doesn't really count.

I've got a TWC warrior using a morning star build. I'm at around level 75. I've been TWC blunt my character's entire career - so this is a very viable build.

My training is:

2X Blunt,
2X TWC,
2X CM,
1X MoC,
2x PF,
2X Dodge,
1X Perception

I'm at 150 armor, so I don't train in it any more (for now). I think I might have tripled in armor to start with to get to full plate quickly. Any spare points I put into climbing/swimming (to reach certain areas later) or Arcane Symbols/Magic Item Use. I have a few items that require MIU and it has occasionally been handy to be able to invoke scrolls. I also got around 40 ranks of Harness Power so I'd have enough mana to do GoS sigils.

That's the build I tell every non shield user to go with. I think for new players, or characters without ready access to spells, that they'd be better off doubling dodge up to 40 ranks or so before loading heavy up on the armor to shoot for fullplate. I hear a lot of complaints about being hit while in defensive for low level characters. The AS/DS mechanics of GS are a bit silly in that AS is based on skill bonus while DS is based on skill ranks, so AS ramps up quickly then steadies out for creatures and players a like while DS has slow steady growth from start to finish.

An open mstrike with a heavy weapon in each hand can be brutally effective. It's the right combination of power and assurance of landing a blow, as you're getting 2 strikes on each critter you get to take a shot at, with the relatively high DF's of a morning star. So if one shot gets blocked, you've still got a shot at landing a disabling blow. And for warriors who don't have much for effective crowd control, stunning (or killing) a room full of creatures in one shot can be the answer. I use TWC axes on occasion and it's quite effective in the right situation. Good luck! Should be fun.

Would be so awesome if you could open mstrike with two katana. All sorts of awesomeness in that scenario.

Thank you all so much! This gives me a decent starting point, and I can play with the stats a bit and see what mess I can make. Cheers!

I have a 30 DE warrior that I'll sell you if you want. I think he's currently TWC OHE though. Spiffy used his fixskill a few months ago.

Can, just need at least one old style. Someone just sold a pair of decent oldstyle (falchion) katanas.

in general though:
It's hard to fuck up with two stars for a long, long time. Halfling will be nice for the super special bonus TD and inherent maneuver dodging, the former being the big warrior weakness. The RT reduction will be nice if you're doing any aimed attacks or for open mstriking. It matters a lot less if you plan on relying on berserking more often than not, but the TD bonus is still nice.

Latrinsorm and I worked out a 3x armor, 3x PF, 3x dodge build for a TWC warrior a while back. With dual wield the parry Cman was pretty sexy along with berserking.
