Me and my brother are looking to start playing again soon, and I was wondering what are some good duos to level together if they are the same race(for rp reasons). Things that compliment each other well for role playing and hunting aspects of the game.. Open to anything please include what race you'd pick, and how they are comparable. Thank you.

Returning player..

(Btw if anyone knows who owns Ursinus, I want to buy him back.)

Paladin and Bard is likely the best combo in my opinion.

But realistically, two characters hunting together, regardless of class, you'll be fine.

Yea that was a thought, they both have group spells that come in handy..

While paladin & bard make an excellent combo, I disagree.

I think it is hard to argue against the combination of a wizard & warrior. The warrior can guard/protect the wizard, and the wizard just has a whole bunch of things to offer a warrior. Plus you have that whole might and magic thing going on, so if one of you get bored playing one of those you can always switch for a polar opposite effect to keep things entertaining.

I also believe that statement to be true, that really any two classes you would be fine and can find ways to hunt well together.

Edit to add: And many races can work well together for a wizard / warrior combo or others, so I feel that is really a matter of what race entertains you both the most.

While I can agree that Wizard/Warrior tends to be a strong combo, the problem is that wizards and warriors tend to utilize different hunting grounds based on their strengths.
Warriors tend to do critters like stone giants, golems, bowels hunting, and critters which typically have more deadly CMANs, but don't cast. Whereas wizards tend to go after squishier undead casters...

I can only speak for myself, but a very useful and slight modification of the wizard + warrior combo is a wizard + (THW or lance, generally) empath. You can get the melee from it so that constructs, soul golems, whatever are never a problem, healing on the spot and continue to fight, haste from the wizard, plenty of defensive spells, etc. I've never once regretted it and I wouldn't change the empath in the equation to anything else.

Step 1: Make an Erithian Monk, named Jackechan and a Dark Elf Bard named Christ'ker.
Step 2: Train them in MMA style UAC (none of that ambush stuff, you're men).
Step 3: ????
Step 4: Start every fight with one of you holding the mob (grapple neck or back) while the other obliterates its face and balls with a flurry of kicks and punches.

When low on desire to grind, watch Rush Hour 1, 2, or 3 as needed.

Dwarves! Cleric Empath is a fun combo

I agree with the Paladin/Bard combo, quite a bit. Both professions have innate perma-blessed items so you aren't limited to specific hunting grounds. There is a ton of group spells between the two professions: Arm of the Arkati, Divine Shield, Guard the Meek, Zealot, Song of Tonis, Kai's Triumph, Lucksong, and then the Minor Spiritual/Minor Elemental spheres. You can be somewhat self-reliant with the Bard training in 1x perception and 1x disarm with 402 (?) and 404 to DETECT traps on boxes then use Call Lightning from the Paladin to pop the safe boxes, just a thought although that's probably quite a long ways down the road if you ever train up to 125 in Minor Spiritual. You may not want to since the bard can 1020 you back to town or any number of society ports and thus removes any real need for 130. Then there's purifying and loresinging.

But realistically, two characters hunting together, regardless of class, you'll be fine.

Also true!

At the end of the day, I suggest you consult Whirlin's guides on any profession you choose; they are exceptional.

If you do end up going Paladin/Bard, I would love to see something like the cowardly Paladin and comical Bard. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYFefppqEtE)

going against the grain here but i have always loved ranger/sorc or ranger/empath. for myself (the ranger) it just seems that hunting with a sorc or empath always turned into a fun slaughterfest

Sorc/Paladin.

Sorcerers have minor elementals and spirituals, plus can be beastly with scrolls, giving you access to all the spells you might need. Their Self-Cast DS is nothing to sneeze at, either. Paladins get to crazy high AS levels. Between the two you've got most of the bases covered. You miss out on haste-bot hunting, but you shouldn't need it.

Sorcerer plus bane cleric can also be amazing. I hunted with a cleric for about 10 levels and we tore through bonespear and wyneb.

I'm a bit partial to sorc myself. They pair well with just about anything. They can kill/disable with the best of them.

That being said, I think bard/paladin would be pretty fantastic with the group spells and access to minor spiritual and elementals.

I've played a wizard to/at cap, a rogue to/at cap, and a cleric to/at cap. Each one had 1-2 partners, but only one combo really stood out for me.

Cleric/Wizard, with me as the cleric. And we warcamped. 500 deep camps got destroyed in under an hour. Literally we'd sit there and just OBLITERATE. Say what you want about any class, the pure utility that each of them offer each other is retarded. And it wasn't an immo wizard, it was a bolting wizard, and a smite cleric. It was RETARDED nice. We did have a mana battery outside if one of us got low, but it was a dwarf in CoL, so it was endless mana anyways. Crazy nice. Tried it swapping out either of us for diff people at cap, never worked ever. So that's my 2 cents. Good luck on your choice.

It's a little different but my vote would be giantman bard and empath. Specifically, archer/picker bard and bolt/summoning lore focused empath. You won't need anybody for anything until one of you dies, which won't be very often with healing/108/213/220/1011/1020/130 and the strength to drag your partner a room over at your disposal, or you get high enough level that you need some crazy scatter boxes picked or something. You have great disabling spells at your disposal. By the time you're in the higher levels (with the right training) a web bolt/arrow to the eye combo will just destroy things. You won't need cmans, so both characters can be in GoS for mana recovery that doesn't impact AS.
