What combonation of MNE and Bard spell ranks yields the highest CS possible? Also, is there a bard out there who is currently just using just runestaff or just tear assing around with an instrument out during combat. I've got a good idea how to maximize runestaff DS but how do you maximize ds with just a instrucment (no shield or weapon), if this is even a possibility.

75 MnE, the rest in Bard songs for the best CS.

As to instruments and DS, your two friends are dodge and brawling.

Casting Strength
Main spell circle: +1 up to level
+.75 up to Level+20
+.5 from Level+21 to Level+60
+.25 from Level+61 to Level +100

Secondary Circle:
+1/3 CS per rank up to 2/3 Level
+.1 from 2/3 Level to Level
+.05 after that.

The primary Circle bonus is rounded... That's why there's the +21 recommendation (20 ranks = 15, therefore 21 ranks = 15.5, subsequently rounded up). Secondary circles are ceiling'ed, so having 5.05 would still net 6.

Applied:
125 Bard
100 + 15
5 ranks at .5 yield 2.5
Rounded to 3
Total: 118
75 MnE
22 from first 66 ranks
+.9 from subsequent 9 ranks, Rounded up to 23
=23 (not taking into account 425).

Therefore, the last two ranks can be applied to either circle, and as long as both points go into the same circle, it will yield +1 CS due to rounding implications.

127 Bard, 75 MnE MAY result in a lower multi-song penalty, and will result in slightly longer spell durations (at this point though, won't really matter). I don't believe enhancing spellsongs will receive bonuses from overtraining above level.

125 Bard, 77 MnE will result in +1 DS from 430... That's it... 1 DS.

If you have enough for 2x Spell Research at cap... You're likely fine either way.

So...I was right Whirlin?...or did I just interupt a very serious mathematical discussion with yourself?

For just CS, you're not wrong!
But I'd recommend 125 Bard, 77 MnE, for +1 DS and ETD instead of +2 seconds on spellsongs.

And whatever, whatever, I maths what I want!

What about elemental CS? 415 is the most powerful spell in the game.

I guess it would be 159 MnE and 43 bard songs, you could also do 162 MnE and 40 bard songs, but eh, may as well get those extra 3 songs for the benefits they'd provide.

Actually, I had no idea that the benefits of 1010 and 1019 do not extend past your level. That will be helpful in about 20 years when I cap.

By the way, I meant that in good jest, and I envy your maths skillz. I'm sure you understood that, but just wanted to throw that out there because some anoynous troll said I was being a dick to someone just trying to help + suggested I go eff myself. :p

Thanks guys, this stuff is super helpful. How about expanding on the 415 being the most powerful spell in the game? And, if you going to eff yourself please don't jiz on anyone in this thread, thankyou.

Actually I did have an idea for 415...

Can bards attune to an element? If so, I thought about picking up fire lore. I forgot how much is needed to attune but I'd get that many, attune, and fixskills to drop fire lore. I could see that being moderately useful for troll camps with 415 / 435.

Everyone can attune and it requires no lore. It's also impossible to change. Ever. Because Naos is dumb.

I'm gonna assume Tgo is trolling about 415.

But just in case he's not...what makes it the most powerful spell in the game?

I miss old 415 where it had no damage cap and you could hit rats and kobolds for thousands of damage.
