Hey guys -

Midterms coming around and I've got a seriously tough semester. Was wondering if anyone has good instrumental bands to share. I'd prefer instrumental (ie no lyrics - or very limited lyrics) because my brain can't handle words coming through my ears whilst they are being read from my eyes for some reason.

Don't know if this helps, but these are some of the bands that I have absolutely tapped out during the last few years:

Do Make Say Think
El Ten Eleven
Balmorhea
Explosions in the Sky

If any of you have something similar (or fuck it - totally different, but still instrumental) please advise!

Thanks!

matt

Great stuff man, thanks. They are sort of like an electric Do Make Say Think with all of their ambient sounds. I appreciate the addition to the playlist! Do you have anything else handy?

Solar Fields is one of my new favorites. Instrumental and spacey.

Future Sound of London
Sounds From the Ground
Synaesthesia
Aes Dana

Faster dancier stuff:

Phutureprimitive (another new favorite)
Pretty Lights
Matrix & Futurebound
Juno Reactor
Sasha (Involver series)
Sasha & John Digweed (Northern Exposure series)

Here's a 2 for 1 :)

Yeah, I listened to them and immidiately thought of boards. I'll come up with some more.

There are vocals in some tracks, but they're wordless.

And here I thought you were going to spam this thread with Kyna.

Kina has to this point not acted on my suggestion to cover Dead Flag Blues, and even then the track would have to be edited to satisfy Gompers' requirements.

Since you ask, though, Kina did once improv (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MB9xXIFU8Qo&list=PL744CF0D02DBDFBC5&index=6) a wordless song with her two sisters.

You know, you could get Karaoke versions of songs... Those are generally completely lyricless, though they do have the backup singers on them sometimes.

It was Explosions In The Sky in my city. Would have probably worked for a soundtrack, wasn't that impressive live.

Amusingly the same with Godspeed You, Black Emperor! Made me anticipate NiN more though

Yeah, it was my third time. One of my very favorite bands. I saw him with Bowie the first time and Bauhaus the second time. They did a really good show in Raleigh.

My third time as well and hopefully not my last.

Okay. I listened through quite a bit of this. I want to kill myself. They should use this music in Guantanamo Bay. If they did, America would be safe. No one ever expects that Spanish Inquisition? If they played this shity music, you wouldn't need to. I am not even under torture, but right now I will admit to being a witch, being responsible for WW2, and I probably had something to do with Nine Eleven.

For the sake of your children, and the sperm inside your balls or the eggs in your ovaries... Do not listen to this garbage.

I got into NIN just late enough to miss the Downward Spiral tour, but I managed to get out in 2000 to see Fragility with Perfect Circle. That was a killer show. This tour was my third time as well, bit softer than I was expecting and tons of new material. That may have been because we were the first show on the tour.

They opened for NIN and it was the longest fucking 30 minutes of my fucking life. We were front row so I was able to get a good view of the security guys' and EMT guys' faces. They were all like... what in the sweet fuck is this? That's basically what I said. That's also what PK said. They were so horrible. It was seriously like just one long mush of reverberating noise. Loud, awful, reverberating mushnoise. I can imagine that's what being skullfucked would sound like.

I wasn't kidding when I said you couldn't pay me to listen to them again.

No. They played tons of new stuff in Atlanta too. Definitely not as many older songs as I'd have liked.. but I can't really complain. It was amazing.
