The thread about obesity made me remember that Kmart still exists. Do any of you shop there? If so, do you choose it over Walmart? Also, why does Kmart still exist?

Cheaper. Kmart also tends to be in lower income areas.

Kmart was purchased by Sears. It is now Sear's low end store. If you want to consider Sears high end that is.

Actually, it is the reverse. Kmart bought Sears with some money they have from somewhere. They then created a holding company over both stores that they named Sears.

Still, I've seen Walmart in the same areas I've seen Kmarts. I guess the clothing is cheaper at the Kmart? I can't see how the food could get any cheaper.

There's a KMart across the street from the Walmart here. I have no idea why they're still open.

Make sure you don't turn on red in front of the GAYMART during lunch hours.

That restaurant in the back could be a Chinese restaurant and the sign is them saying they're closed, as indicated by their red sign not being turned on between 11-1.
KMart is closer to my house than WalMart so i'll go sometimes but not all that often.

Hmm, Thought it was the other way around, since the last I had heard of Kmart on it's own, it had closed over 25% of it's stores and was on the border of bankruptcy. That's Modern accounting for you, have zero money, and can still afford to buy things worth more then you.

There's also a new commercial to go with the "Ship my Pants" one. "Big Gas Savings".
They crack me up.

I have no idea where there's a Kmart around here. For groceries I will generally shop at Publix or Kroger, sometimes Walmart for certain things (prewashed sliced mushrooms, Del Monte grapefruit, soy sauce, uhh.. that's about it).

Guess i'm not much of a shopper...90% of my monthly expenditures goes to Publix for groceries...as far as actually buying things not edible, I refer to the interwebs pretty exclusively.
edit: monthly expenditure meaning retail of some sort...my mortgage, electric, and utilities together comprise the majority of my normal monthly expenditures, but I'm not counting those in this.
