Let's take a look at the results. 200 endroll used for each scenario.

Skin:
Dagger - 25 raw damage, 9 added for weighting. 5-9 crit ranks.
Short sword - 35 raw damage. 5-9 crit ranks.

Leather:
Dagger - 20 raw damage, 9 added for weighting. 3-5 crit ranks.
Short sword - 24 raw damage. 2-4 crit ranks.

Scale:
Dagger - 10 raw damage, 9 added for weighting. 1-2 crit ranks.
Short sword - 20 raw damage. 1-2 crit ranks.

Chain:
Dagger - 13 raw damage, 9 added for weighting. 1-2 crit ranks.
Short sword - 15 raw damage. 1 crit rank.

Plate:
Dagger - 8 raw damage, 9 added for weighting. 1 crit rank.
Short sword - 13 raw damage. 1 crit rank.

Short sword will deal more damage indefinitely, and the dagger has a chance to get a higher crit. Your choice.

Just remember that a rank 4 puncture to the eye is a death. Daggers are easier to aim. I'd go with the dagger.

<<Chain:
Dagger - 13 raw damage, 9 added for weighting. 1-2 crit ranks.
Short sword - 15 raw damage. 1 crit rank.>>

That is correct.
