So when the wife finally got ready this afternoon we loaded up the cars and stormed the festivities.

We get to the fair after a bit of rain, much scarfing of funnel cakes, elephant ears, tacos, and blooming onions, the monkeys and I hit a few rides, have a puke incident, and worry some more about rain.

This year I did the red-neck thing and entered the drag races. Out-law street class.

We were literally rushed through each heat up until the quarter finals because of the expected rain.

With slicks and no back or passenger seat I put down a guy in a fake Yenko, a pair of mustang GTs and a Salene, two riced out Civics, and one sick sounding Eclipse.

I make it to the quarters and end up next to a C5 wearing street shoes, and it start to rain. With the hood up, the rain, and the dry ice cooling my intake it looked like the engine had just blown a gasket and I had to explain to 3 officials that it was just the dry ice, I think my demeanor kind of rubbed them the wrong way and they wouldn't let me change from slicks to streets ... sucked.

My times in the pre-lims were high 10s and low 11s. I didn't once use nitrous.

Well to not sound too much like a hick, the track was a bit wet but there was no way I could take the C5 in perfect conditions. I ran the fastest I have ever run in the Animul, 9.987. The C5 had the better hole shot, nitrous, tires and some nice tooling on the heads. 9.867 finish.

I almost prayed the guy would have ran another sub 10 .... he would have been disqualified from the class.

I had the second fastest time of all the entries so I'm not disappointed. 3rd place doesn't taste right though.

The shocked faces of drivers getting schooled by a 4 door Lumina was the best part, as always.

Nothing beats 3rd place victory hot dogs and the tilt - a - hurl for the fourth time though.
