How do these work?

How do these work?

You put a gem in the box, and whisper a message to it. The message is then stored in the gem, and the gem can be rubbed by whoever and it will replay the message all holographic like.

Pretty neat item, but they were changed a lil bit ago.

They now require some MIU to use, and before you used to be able to set the gem to a specific target so only they would get the message. Maybe that's still the case but I haven't played with mine enough to see if it does or not. The gem value also used to determine how long the message could be, not sure if that still holds true now or not.

The box opens up a few ways to use it for some neat ideas/RP and such.

So far, I've found a crate full of gardening tools:

a small green wooden crate

R>l in crat
In the green wooden crate you see a pair of sharp steel gardening shears, a large bottle of water, a braided wicker trug, a pair of thick tan canvas gloves, a muted green gardening pail, a patchwork cotton apron, a polished copper watering can, a floppy straw hat, a dark red steel rake, a sturdy black steel shovel, a monir-handled steel hoe and a miniature ladder rowan tree.

Pulled this just a bit ago haven't had much time to mess with it:

a small ornate pocket-watch
>l pocket
The small, round pocket-watch is formed of gleaming ornate, strands. On one edge of the pocket-watch, a tiny arrow sits atop a small stem. Surrounding the stem are various engravings. The arrow is currently pointing at the image of an Elf profiled against a bright sun.

>open pocket
A tiny creature pops up from Aldonis's pocket-watch and shouts, "It's four thirty-four Elven Daylight time! Now, lemme get some sleep!" With that, the bizarre critter disappears once more, snapping the lid shut behind itself.

POKE for the date.

TAP for stopwatch mode.

TURN to switch time zones.

RUB to switch between Daylight and Standard time.

Great, silly loresong.

broke the carousel and recieved this:

a small crystal vial

You analyze your crystal vial and sense that there is no recorded information on that item. It may or may not be able to be worked on by a merchant alterer.

You get no sense of whether or not the vial may be further lightened.

The crystal vial is wide at the base and tapers to a slender neck, where the vial's contents are secured with a cork, and a length of thin chain secures the cork to the vial.
It's stoppered with its cork.
You also see angular glyphs embedded in faint scrollwork circling the base of the crystal vial.

I have no idea what it is, or does, have yet to seek out a bard. With my luck, my first T5 win, and it's probably junk.

Said to be a “locksmith’s friend,” works like improved traplore, holds 40 charges, replenishes 1 charge per day, said to be a penalty for overuse, possibly severe, crumbles on using last charge, holds a single charge at time of sale, number of charges can be determined by looking at the vial, possibly merchant rechargable, auctioneer hinted at a curse, minimum and maximum benefit for each charge used (will not provide a bonus to your skill over 50, always better than a rogue casting at himself), duration identical to traplore, uses MIU, small chance to lose one charge permanently if used more than once in the same day

Found that through a search for a vial with those same glyphs.

some cinereous onyx-studded platemail - 2 slot fusion

It has a bonus of +25 from a normal platemail, and the way it vibrates in tune with your voice tells you that it is plate armor.

The platemail resonates with your voice, indicating that it enhances its owner in the following ways:
This item doesn't seem to do anything!
You think that you could probably find out something more about the platemail's enhancive properties if you tried.

Also, apparently the Crate went out, Alastir claims to have gotten it.

I can confirm this as true!

You hit something hard in the muck, causing the shovel to break. You toss the broken shovel aside.
You reach down and pull a jewel-studded mistwood trunk from the muck.
Roundtime: 3 sec.

>open my trunk
You open the lid on your mistwood trunk, locking the hinges in place to prop the lid up safely.

>look in my trunk
In the mistwood trunk you see a small silver slide whistle.

SEND[Liia] How are you at making chocolate cakes? For say.. eternity.
J>report I can do that!
SEND[Liia] excellent, that whistle summons cocoa!
SEND[Liia] (and a crate)
SEND[Liia] (contratulations)

As a wizard, I don't have the best use of this, so I'm taking silver or trade offers for it.

You analyze your onyx-studded platemail and sense that the item is largely free from merchant alteration restrictions.

The creator has also provided the following information:

This item can be altered freely by any merchant. This armor is FULLY unlocked. Actions included in this tier are limited to: WEAR, REMOVE, PULL, STARE, HUG, PINCH, POKE, RAISE, CLEAN, TOUCH, WAIT, PUSH.

You might be able to have a talented merchant lighten the onyx-studded platemail for you.

Was unlocked once before, now fully.

some jade green rolaren-studded brigandine

It has a bonus of +25 from a normal brigandine, and the way it vibrates in tune with your voice tells you that it is rigid leather armor.

The creator has also provided the following information:
This brigandine offers a chance to interrupt an attack when you are stunned, webbed, rooted, immobilized, unconscious, or prone.
This is Base armor, and will fire up to 8 times per day to move you in a random direction. It has special messaging for WEAR, REMOVE, and CLEAN.
It can be altered freely, within normal armor altering guidelines. Because some of the messaging refers to buckles and straps, nothing that completely conflicts with that concept should be done.

Just pulled my first t5 and got a square brown crystal bottle.

The bottle contains numerous sapphire pills.

had the following loresong when I sang to it.

An aged wizard stands before an alembic, chanting as he focuses his attention on the instrument. A flash of brilliant blue surrounds the mage as magic weaves its way around him, forming powerful defensive wardings.

He holds a gnarled staff in his hand as he chants enchantment after enchantment, warding himself with powerful defenses. The faceted sapphire pendant around his neck gleams with each incantation.

A final glimpse of the wizard shows his robes bloodied and torn. With a cry, he shouts a defiant phrase and the sapphire pendant around his neck shatters into thousands of glimmering drops.

anyone know more about this?

T5 - Veil Iron Dagger 5x with show and Sloan scripts (no flares found by playing with it or can a bard find anything)

Show:
From pommel to blade's tip, this dagger is like a shard of shadow, its tone-on-tone grey hue unfaltering. The natural coloring of the veil iron is preserved in the blade and is maintained even along the sharpened edges. Without a guard, the midline between blade and hilt is adorned with simple knotwork, and the contoured grip has been fashioned of soot-hued pearl. At the base of the hilt, a small orb of veil iron serves as a counterbalance to the weapon and is engraved with a knot of serpents entwined.

Took me 3967 spins on the carousel.

I'm up near 6k spins total looking for a second T5, no dice.

I got one T-5 win late afternoon on Halloween. After hours of carouseling, falling and trying almost every game.

a pair of silver-toned arm greaves with smooth obsidian inlays

The greaves resonates with your voice, indicating that it enhances its owner in the following ways:
It provides a bonus of 5 to Stamina Recovery.
It provides a bonus of 5 to Constitution Bonus.
It provides a bonus of 5 to Strength Bonus.
The greaves looks to have almost innumerable charges remaining.

You sense that the silver-toned greaves will persist after its last enhancive charge has been expended.

Anyone else get one of these?

I thought it was a T5 win, but there doesn't seem to be anything special other then max deepened.

You remove an inky black spidersilk cloak from in your fading surcoat.
J>tap my clo
You tap an inky black spidersilk cloak, which is in your right hand.
J>inspect my clo
You carefully inspect your spidersilk cloak.

You estimate that an inky black spidersilk cloak can store a very large amount with enough space for any number of items.

You determine that you could wear the cloak, hanging it from your shoulders. The cloak appears to serve some purpose.

It looks like this item has been mainly crafted out of cloth.
J>anal my clo
You analyze your spidersilk cloak and sense that there is no recorded information on that item. It may or may not be able to be worked on by a merchant alterer.

You can tell that the cloak's pockets could not possibly get any deeper, but you might be able to have a talented merchant lighten the spidersilk cloak for you.
J>l my clo
The dark, fluid length of spidersilk is sporadically woven with threads of silver that effect a subtle shimmer. A small, black onyx witch on a broom figurine, her eyes inset with tiny blue sapphires, serves as the garment's clasp.

I Can't check my logs, since I got it while I was at a friends. If anyone else pulled one out of a T4, then I know this isn't a T5, but I could have sworn I won a T5 cloak.

Loresong just says it's worth 100k and is 7lbs.

I know I saw a post that someone in Plat had found this item but cannot find it again to see if they figured it out.

A friend found a soft velvet ebon wand harness, because something was odd with the mechanics/coding, her alt could not actually see it so Bazzlewyn (sp) changed it to a soft velvet black wand harness, no big deal. My bard sang to it and was able to coax four visions of the story then the fifth line sort of petered out about a cow being interested. So, he tracked down several other bards since he is only 33, several of them capped, and they were not able to get any more than him out of it. Does anyone have any idea what this is, we know it is a T5, it was located in a gem encrusted box while digging and Bazzle said it was a big deal but have not been able to figure out what it does or how it does it.

The GM wouldnt tell you what it is or what it does?

I sometimes hate when they do that.

try putting an empty wand in it and rubbing it, or try a full wand and rub it.

No, I saw that one, someone put the exact description in the post but now I cannot find it, that is the original description.

We tried putting all sorts of wands in it and rubbing it, tapping it, etc. with no luck. It may be a recharger, or it may be a duplicator, or I am leaning towards something that holds a bunch of wands with no encumbrance. Her schedule and mine are out of synch now so we have not been able to get together and gather a bunch of wands to play with it.

You can put up to 5 wands in it and it will recharge all of them, takes at least half an hour to get the messaging that it recharged them. Each time the harness gives you this message:

With a soft hum accompanied by a slight vibration, your harness radiates a glow of heat for a few moments.

You'll have a single charge added to each wand in the harness.

VERY nice item.

wonder if you have to be logged in for it to charge. 1 charge every 30 min to 5 wands.. so almost a full day to refill deleted wands.

That isn't so bad, considering most self charging wands are like 10-20 charges per day, this basically makes 5 wands self charging.

Well that is good to know, will have to pass that along to her and play with it some. RSR do you know is there a limit to how many times per day it can be used?

From what I heard, it charges the wands without you doing anything except being in game. So there's really no 'how many times per day it can be used' to apply to it. It just does it on its own.

AKA. Never log out again.

Now.. if you had yourself some high end mage rechargeable wands handy.. Like some Heroism, or such, these would be killer.

Sounds like it Jarvan, seems like it would be simple enough to write a script that would wait for the notice, however many times is appropriate and swap them out with depleted ones and start again, run an instrument script at the same time to keep you in and you could be a wand making machine. I wonder if it works on ranger made wands and rods as well, have to play with that some. So much to do, work, work, work.

It likely only works on mage rechargeable wands. Which means 40 charges, or around 20 hours. Like I said, I would save it for things that are harder for a wizard to charge. Unless the GM's were smart and made it wizard spells only. That would suck.

Otherwise May be a good idea to offer recharging service for rare wands.

I have a bunch of holy bolt wands if you want to test those. made via alchemy, but said to be rechargeable

She said she would play with it tonight, but I have a feeling it will take a fair amount of testing to sort exactly what will and will not work. I am working the next three nights so I cannot help. I will tell her about the thread so she can chime in. Thanks for all the info everyone, will pass on the results when they come in of anyone that is interested. Oh, and I think it is only wands, the loresong vision only showed piles of wands, nothing else.

There is a wand charging harness in the game now that is many years old. If your harness is like the existing one, then it will charge almost any wand. For example, the existing harness can charge wands imbedded with spell 120. I can't remember if it puts a maximum of 20 charges or 40 charges.

Every time I see the original owner, I ask him if he still has it, and he always does.

After reviewing my notes, I think the old harness maxes at 20 charges.

Any idea if the harness would work on mage-rechargable wands with crazy spells in them, like Heroism?
