The only reason I'm posting this log this is because this jackass has done this to me before...I'm wondering if anyone else has had problems with him. Then when I confront him on Lnet, he tries to tell me that he can't tell the difference because he was doing an escort task. Trying to copy the Lnet chat closed my whole game window so unfortunately I am unable to post it here.

Anyways....discuss!

[Icemule Trail, Tree Path - 2503]
A snowy owl glides silently among the trees above the path, searching for a likely victim in the falling snow. The ghostly figure suddenly dives, then rises--a tiny animal grasped in its talons--and quickly spirals up out of the trees and wings its way home. You also see a halfling rogue, the Kymberlyn disk, a reinforced shield, a reinforced shield, a broadsword, a falchion, a reinforced shield, a broadsword and a reinforced shield.

I'm sure Oweodry will chime in here since he frequents the PC but I am pretty sure he's not the jackass type that would do this to spite you.

Odds are it's either a script he runs that attacks things, or he is doing it in thoughts that he is helping you out as well. I'm sure he'll respond though to you here

Rep I got- Neg rep for the derogatory comment, especially when she had explained that he had done that to her before, and she was unstunned and attacking before he started killing. Read shit before you just spew crap all over.

Whine whine whine.
Sorry your cyber sucks so bad that you couldn't prevent the death of the one little creature.

Why was this such a big deal that she made a post on the PC? She lost one critter. Oh, because she is a whiny bitch.

L2Read, she was likely stunned when he walked in. Even if she went to Defense stance after, his entrance was prior.

to chime in, 104 endrolls on subdual strike don't usually end in stuns in my experience, just RT.

I would have more of an issue with him killing the bandit and looting it after if he "was just trying to help". Also, joining her group, and then ewaving the bandits would have allowed the escort to enter the room, and for him to keep on moving on, wouldn't it?

Jhynnifer
10-15-2013, 01:00 PM
I'm confused about the issue, he JOINed your group so he didn't ewave you and helped you kill bandits, both of which you got credit for. He was doing an escort and his traveler was in the room so it could potentially get killed by your bandits. Yes, he could have ewaved and moved on. The only issue I have there is his searching your bandits and gathering the coin but that may have just been part of his script.

Honestly, while it may not be the best way to handle the situation, I don't think you got screwed enough to start a thread about how much of an asshole he is. I just don't see it here.

He wasn't "helping me", he was trying to get on his merry way with this traveler...I get that. Ewaving alone solved that for him since the traveler entered the room shortly after he casted it. Since he grabbed me before he ewaved it was clear that he knew I was in the room with the bandits before he entered, therefore, there was no way they could have been meant for him, which is the lame excuse he gave me over lnet. What I took issue with was him killing AND looting and the fact that he's done this to me before didn't help matters.

As I said, the issue I saw with it was with his looting them. I agree with that, its a shit thing to do. Also not that big of a deal. Yes he wasn't helping you, but he also wasn't ewaving you and leaving you in a room with 15 seconds of rt on the ground with two bandits. He's probably scripting and not doing it on purpose. Does it suck for you? Yes. But the fact that he's joining your group before ewaving balances out the jackass issue for me.

The loot thing doesn't give you any less exp or credit, at most he got 300 silvers. I used to wait patiently for people to handle their bandits when I was on escorts but I had my traveler killed too many times by other people's bandits. I just instapop them now. It's a multi-player game, you should calm down a bit.

I hate to agree, but I have lost many travelers while waiting outside a room for someone to finish their bandits. You wait and peer next room every few seconds then BAM!!! Bandit ambushes your traveler.

I lost an Icemule to Zul Logoth escort once because some sorcerer was waiting for maelstorm (maelstrom!) to kill a bandit. After a couple incidents like this I decided it was better for me to be potentially rude* for 30 seconds and not waste an hour of my life.

*Most people are happy for the help when you pass through btw, I've never had someone get angry at me before, especially because I try to let them get a hit on it first if at all possible.

Are you really going to miss those 281 coins that much?

I would have done the same thing in his situation. I've had escorts killed plenty of times waiting on someone else's bandits. So I just light up the room now and move on.

The looting was probably part of his script. Everything starting from when he kneeled was probably a script actually.

He could have just as easily walked in, ewaved, waited for his escort and then moved on, leaving you in a pretty bad situation.

I really don't see what the big deal is. This is rat hunter drama.

Of course he misses the part where said cleric whispered to me and told me it would be awhile because he just raised someone...so I go afk for a bit and come back fully raised without a chance to ask or respond to his question about a chrism. Pissed? Hardly...more like mildly annoyed since I was "at rest" AND on gift and would rather have liked to recover from my death with that full head of learning.

I have my own cleric who does a fair amount of raising with chrisms....when I ask someone if they want one, I will WAIT until they reply...and yes I've had to wait more than a minute sometimes, but I want to make sure that I am not robbing someone of any learning they might wish to keep.

As for the Oweodry issue....he was not "helping me", according to him, he thought the bandits were his even though they were already in the room that I was in. Ewaving alone afforded him the time to get his traveler out of the room and safely on his way without having to kill them and loot them. I do not and have never faulted him for wanting to get his traveler to safety, the problem I had with the whole thing is his lack of courtesy to the fact that I was already in the room hunting said bandits and took it upon himself to kill and loot them when all he had to do was move to the next room once he ewaved them.

The ONLY reason I started this thread was to see if anyone else has had problems with this guy since the only two interactions I've ever had with him involved him poaching my kills.

Maybe instead of (or BEFORE) going afk you should have mentioned to him that you wanted a chrism if he had one. Why the fuck should he have to sit around and wait for you to get back from being afk, when he had no idea when you'd be back? That's a little fucking ridiculous of you to expect it.

I completely agree, I even said that to Soulance when we chatted on Lnet. I thought I had a bit more time to do what I had to do, I was just disappointed to come back and see that wasn't the case at all. I didn't blame Soulance for me not getting a chrism, nor did I NOT tip him or NOT thank him. After he apologized for the lack of chrism I even told him it wasn't his fault. Cuz it wasn't. Does that mean that I'm not allowed to be sad about not getting a chrism when my head is full and i'm on xxx gift?

Edited to add: No, I never said I expected him to wait for me to come back from being AFK. I wasn't even AFK that long. All I did was say that he didn't wait for a reply in response to Dasmik telling me that Soulance asked me if I wanted one. And if I tell someone "I'm gonna be awhile" then you can be damn sure that I will make sure they are ready for me to raise them when I get back even if that means waiting for a reply when asking them if they need a chrism.

When my cleric raises someone, especially if I rescued them myself, I give them 30 seconds to respond about a chrism. I ask again, and then raise them without one if they still don't respond.

I've only had one person complain about it, and LNet lit him up pretty hard after for being a douche, since that's where he went off on me, for everybody to see.

Moral of the story: Your corpse's time isn't more valuable than the cleric's time. If you're going afk without telling the cleric whether or not you want a chrism, and you get raised without one, tough shit and QQ less.

Also, figuring out who bandits belong to in the middle of an escort task is another good way to either get your escort killed or get the other person killed by potentially leaving a level 50 with a room full of capped bandits.

Buy your own chrisms and a chrism holder. Problem solved.

This idea that Clerics should just carry around chrisms is stupid now with these tools at your disposal. You have the capacity to do this yourself and avoid any confusion in the future.

Had you spent the 100k your cleric res would have been like this:

Cleric: I will get you but need a minute.
You: activate your chrism holder and say" Great I am going to step away there is the chrism you can use on me. Thanks!"
Cleric: Waits until ready and raises you.
You: Come back to full chrism raise.

As for the bandits? I have rarely to never done an escort task, but I have been killed by other people's bandits plenty of times just because I am on the road where they are spawning. I assume this means that bandits don't actually spawn on an escort until you are in the room?

If that is true then I wouldn't have known that either and his explanation would make sense. Additionally up until right now I would have done the exact same thing as he did and feel no remorse doing it.

If however, escort bandits can spawn on anyone just in the area, then he wouldn't have known and his assumption also makes sense.

The time you spent crying here probably would have earned you more coins, experience and friends, if you have just asked a general question about bandit and escort etiquette.

Yep...it's still nicer to sit around waiting for stats to come back with a full head of learning. Especially when you're less than 5k to leveling.

If this had really been your concern, you should have A) not gone AFK or B) if you really had to go afk you should have told him you wished a chrism and that you would pay/replace it.

Honestly, not a leg to stand on here either.

The "biggie" was you being rude to the cleric. More rude than Oweodry was by taking one of your kills. And continuing to argue about it like a child, instead of just admitting that you were in the wrong. He traveled from landing to Icemule to raise you, you had a chance to tell him that you would like a chrism raise, YOU DIDN'T, YOU went afk, YOU didn't respond when he asked you if you wanted a chrism raise, YOU were rude when you realized you didn't get a chrism raise. You are the only one at fault here. There are many ways this could have been different and a thousand excuses. The bottom line, you complain about others being rude, and you can be worse. Like Drew said on the previous page. . . More like a glass houses/rocks thing I imagine. You told me you "worked it out" with him. I hope you actually apologized for being a bitch, instead of giving him some retarded lecture on how you would have done it with your cleric. . . Because he appeared to be sincerely sorry for something that he didn't need to be sorry for.

You said it was no biggie, but the log reads as you being fairly bent out of shape by the inconvenience even without the "typo verb". You can say you didn't mean it and you chatted all buddy-buddy with the guy, but for anyone who didn't read your lnet conversation and didn't care enough to post here, you look like someone who was completely butthurt about being raised (while afk) and not getting a chrism.

Also, I'm confused what did I take out of context? You said it would be nicer to be rezzed with a chrism during XXX for the exp. I said if you were concerned about that you wouldn't have AFK'd while dead. Sounds like I was countering your point.

At the end of the day, I just think the two logs together paint an amusing and ironic picture of you. So thank you for the entertainment.

I do agree with her original post. I would personally never take someones kill, even if it would benefit me more than it would hurt them. It's rude no matter what the situation. I don't believe it was rude enough to create a post about it, even if he has done it more than once, but still rude.

Uh, yeah okay. Other people have agreed with me here and in reputation comments. And the feedback from those who disagree are welcome because they help me see other peoples take on it. Thread: Oweodry

Who?

I agreed with her original post. I would have been annoyed if someone did that to me, especially the looting bit (it doesn't matter if there was actual loot or not, it's the principle). Personally I wouldn't put my escort task/time over someone elses, though I usually don't bother doing escorts because of those sorts of the things.

About the chrism thing, I didn't really read it as her being butthurt, I read it more like "Aw damn I wish I had gotten a chrism raise" kind of attitude. Was it her fault she didn't get a chrism raise? Yes. Would I have gone afk then? No. Did I get from the log that she was being rude and butthurt? Not really.

Whirlin
10-21-2013, 09:04 AM
I remember that day that Kym didn't get a chrism raise. While the log appears rather miniscule, I remember it turning into a huge shitshow in Lnet. Kym bitching that she had even been raised without explicitly asking for the raise while AFK, and that she could have gotten her other character cleric to chrism raise her. Yes, in game, it wasn't a big deal... In Lnet, I remember it going on for about an hour, complaining and trying to lead a witch hunt for whatever cleric raised her. Similarly to what she's trying to do in this thread with Oweodry.

But, onto a more important topic... as a caster, I typically don't seek out a chrism while on XXX... if mana spellup is down, it takes me longer to stack my spells than the time it takes for my mind to get down to muddled/clear, or whatever point where I decide to rehunt, and I end up seeming to lose a decent amount of XP waiting to get my spells back up.

He wasn't chasing, so I doubt he would have done that regardless. Had it been a one time instance, then I agree, it's a pretty small thing and I wouldn't have bothered to post. The reason I posted was because he'd done it to me before, and those were the only two times I've ever had interaction with him in the game. When I started playing this game 10+ years ago, it was instilled in me to NOT run into a room killing shit if someone else was already there. I even remember getting thumped really hard by an elder for running into a room and picking up a bunch of herbs. Has Gemstone changed so much in my 7 year hiatus where this is now acceptable?

Buckwheet
10-21-2013, 11:55 AM
You never answered my question about these kinds of bounties, but I would say it is more acceptable to kill something that can kill your traveler which screws your bounty, but doesn't screw someone's regular bandit bounty.

Yes. 7 years ago there were no bounties (I'm pretty sure at least...they might have just came out) so people didn't leave bandits hanging around that could kill someone who was not expecting to fight bandits.

As I said before my characters have been killed by other people's bandits so often I think they should automatically be fair game to anyone who wants to kill them.
