Seems when holding a runestaff and shield, cva bonus is based off shield and not runestaff.

Tier 2 double leathers

Can you try doing this with a T3 shield and a T2 runestaff, or a T2 shield and a T1 runestaff?

So you hunt staff and shield? Does that increase your DS? I was under the impression shit don't work that way.

It does (from testing with a friend who picked up shield ranks postcap and was torn between a runestaff or shield and discovered boh is best for DS).

with 101 shield ranks, your offensive/prone DS is better off with a shield + runestaff while in defensive you lose a smidgen of DS holding both instead of just a runestaff

and with no ranks you still can get the extra 2 fusion slots if you are holding a 7x fusion shield ;)

I did some research on this earlier this year before ensorcel. With ensorcel it is even much better.

SYNOPSIS:

Shield/brawl 684 DS
Shield/runestaff 687 DS
Runestaff 688 DS

So the loss of DS is insignificant in my opinion. Add the 2 additional fusion slots and/or ensorcel flares from runestaff and it is well worth the effort in my opinion

So based on general GS principles, I expect that if any change comes from this, it'll be a nerf to DS from holding both runestaff and shield.

Here is why I like Runestaff/Shield

If you do not feel like reading:

DS 683 in guarded standing position shield/staff
DS 631 in guarded prone position shield/brawling/staff is lying on the ground

Just as a side note I am fully trained in shield/brawling/CM/dodge



[Ruined Temple, Second Floor]
You notice a spectral triton defender, a spectral triton defender, a triton magus, a dried seaweed-wrapped longbow and some muck.
Obvious exits: northeast, east, west

A triton magus removes a sapphire-tipped arrow from in his rough leather quiver.
A triton magus fires a sapphire-tipped arrow at you!
AS: +431 vs DS: +719 with AvD: +30 + d100 roll: +16 = -242
A clean miss.
The sapphire-tipped arrow disappears into the local environs.
