View Full Version : Defense against Warcries?

So after another wonderful death due to RT Lock in a warcamp last night, I got to thinking... is there any sort of defense against warcries? Anything that a non-warrior can due to mitigate their vulnerability to that hard 20 second RT?

Isn't the Griffin Warcry the same thing? I believe PF helps with those as does heroism/bravery?

Relative Level is the most important factor. I'm not sure if phantom levels from Heroism, Bravery, or that Pally spell are influencial.

I hunt with a 95 Wizard, and a 90 Sorc, grouped... The Sorc almost always ends up with 20s of RT from Griffons in OTF, while my mage usually gets 5-12s.

They are both 1x PF, 1x Perception... so I don't think the 5 ranks is that material a difference.

93 rogue 2x PF I still get the full 20 from griffs in OTF.

I'm at 8m XP, 202 ranks of PF. I just ran out and got Griffin Screeched four times. Two 20 seconds, two 12 seconds. When warcamping last night, though, I ran through my logs. Six warcries (bellow), all six times 20 second RT. And for an open archer in a warcamp, 20 seconds of standing around is a bad thing.

Doesn't your Influence bonus or stat help in some way?

was going to suggest this as well. INF helps success for them so, stands to reason it would help with defense. But that's just a guess.

CON is the key. See how bad they are after a recent death or get an CON boost item or put it in your badge.

I'd think the stat would be DISipline, but you can add a warrior's warcry yowlp for defense (if grouped)

My stats are maxed, except for INF, which sits at 88. I might try to procure some INF enhancives, just to see, but it sounds/looks like it's something that's just meant to be very difficult to resist, and I can respect that. I just need to get better at incapacitating the fuckers before they can shout at me.

Thanks all.

I've always heard that influence doesn't help with warcry defense. Sure would be nice to find out what does though (I've heard DIS as well).

Solid thinking.

The game mechanics of gemstone make it such that best defense to just about anything is a good offense via quickness & margin of success.

I have noticed a substantial increase in my resistance to the vvrael destroyer offensive stance forced warcry (no idea what it is called) since moving over to voln and having symbol of courage up.

It used to be an automatic enrage vs Draithe and now it is not even 50/50. Max stats but for inf at 78.
