So I mastered crafting and I am moving on. I know there are a lot of things that impact your success rate in learning to forge, but does the quality of your hammer have an impact on it it? I am aware it has an impact on the quality of your finished product but since I am just slogging through and throwing stuff out right now I do not care. I turned out an exquisite steel hammer on my first try so I am using that for now and will make a perfect mithril later on unless it has a profound impact on my ability to learn.

No. Only impacts your ability to create perfect pieces, not learn. You won't be able to forge a superior piece until you've gotten a perfect hammer and bonded with it.

I had suspected as much, thanks.

From what I read, if I craft it, then I am bonded to it, correct, or do I have to use it for a time?

you still have to use it for a time after crafting. I forget the exact amount but if you make a perfect hammer by the time you are mastered a weapon style you will easily have bonded.

no. If you made it you don't need to bond. You only need to bond to a perfect hammer made by someone else.
