WTF was that????

8 seasons and that's the best they got????

It feels like they pussied out of a different ending. Leaving it just open enough for something else to follow.

For a series spin off - I would've liked to see the Debauchery of Masuka.

I've not watched since Lithgow season. That should have been the end of the series.

That ending was bullshit.

Gahh.. had to delete my comment in case people haven't seen it yet.

Yep. Agreed. Horrible.

Reminded me of X-Men Origins: Wolverine for some bizarre reason...

I am about to watch it now before I crash out. I will share my thoughts on it tomorrow.

It could have been better, but I thought it was alright. For years I've figured there were two ways it could end and this was one of them.

I wish the very last scene involved a little more plastic.

I don't care how personable a serial killer he was, he did not deserve a happy ending. That's why I liked it.

Yeah, I didn't believe for a second that the ending would be happy family on a sunny beach. I was more expecting Dexter to end up alone due to a double murder than just deciding at the last second not to go through with it though. I thought he was going to "lose" his dueling serial killers thing because he got soft.

He's a fucking pussy.

I hope you don't have a background other than white:

He let the "woman he loved" assume the responsibility for his kid and ran off to work on season 3 of Ax Men.

It's not that he was personable and deserved a "happy ending" (course we all deserve a happy ending sometimes, especially birthdays and christmas, but I digress).

It's that they killed off who they did, and then he chose to separate himself. With everything that had occurred throughout the seasons, I really wish his secret had come out, and the rest of the cast and ending was left SHOCKED and HORRIFIED! But, that's just me.

I wrote a long diatrebe on how nonsensical this last season has been, but then I didn't care that much. I might recreate it later.

I didn't like the ending, but I have to agree with my wife. It was very true to character. He made all the decisions for everyone.

Now we just need a Monty Python lumberjack meme.

The ending was about what I expected. Deb could've died way earlier in the series. Chick was annoying from start to finish. This last season just didn't do it for me. Too overly dramatic, and I didn't have the seething hatred for the Brain Surgeon that I did for the Trinity Killer. Just goes to show you can only make a series like this last for so long.

I've never watched this show, and now that you all say the ending sucked, I don't wanna.

We didn't all say it sucked. And it's still worth the watch.

I would have much preferred everyone finding out he was a serial killer and the fallout associated with that. Did Deb know?! His kids?! omg he was working with the police for years!

etc etc

I was hoping for the trend to continue, with Harrison covered in blood somewhere as Dexter Jr., or everyone finding out and not believing it like Donnie Brasco with Dexter in the wind (still).

I dreamt a better ending for Dexter than the actual Dexter ending. So sad because I've been a huge fan for all these years and I feel like I got robbed. Fucking ROBBED. LUMBERJACK REALLY.

Up north is where serial killers go to die. In flannel.

I had the last season sitting on my DVR and I finally finished it. I... don't know. I was still enjoying it all the way through the last season, but yeah, it never even came close again to the shock and awe(someness) of Rita's death. I like that it wasn't a happy ending, but I still don't feel satisfied. I don't know what I would have liked in its place, I guess.

This is what happened in the books, but the series deviated way off from those right after the first season I believe.

I still can't believe how Astor and Cody all but disappeared after season 5. Oh hey, those are your kids, man. Are their grandparents just willing to have them forever?
