View Full Version : New hair "do"?

So, I've been considering it for awhile since I chopped off a good 4 inches of my hair for my rocker-like shag cut....I want to cut it even shorter. And go blonde.
I haven't hade it shorter than my chin in a long time, and I was thinking of doing it crazy shaggy and piecey to the length of the bottom of my ears. And get it (professionally) bleached to a nice streaky, golden blonde color. That way when my roots grow in it wont look SO bad. That way it can grow out and I can have it adjusted at the roots to grow out and have long blonde hair for awhile.
Think it would work?
My sister has blonde hair and it looks fantastic. Just wondering if I should bother blowing the 200 or so dollars its going to cost to get it done.

why is it when it comes to hair, women always want what they don't have?
Its something I've always pondered. I don't know a single woman that is happy with her own hair.

I think it'd look good, Jesae. You have small enough features to get away with a shorter cut. Just make sure there's enough dark pieces left in to balance out the blonde, or it'll look too fake-y.
Also, post pictures!

In all honesty, I LIKE my hair. I think dark hair has a very mysterious, regal quality to it. I look more dramatic with my brown/black hair. However....it was 112 fucking degrees out today and I practically rang the sweat out of my hair after getting to my 1:40 class. I've had it, it's too thick, too long, and absorbs too much heat from the sun.
And I've never had it any lighter than a milk chocolate brown so it would be interesting to see how it looks.

The good thing about blonde is that you can always cover it up again if you hate it.

My suggestion to you is to look into a hair school around you. It's probably 3/4 of the cost of a salon, and we do a better job. They will give you to a senior, and nothing gets done to your hair without the instructors ok...and they supervise the entire job.
At my school, you would get the colr done for 20 and the cut and style for 12....totaling a whooping 32 bucks!
You said your hair was thick....have you ever had it thinned out and textured? If your going for the pieced out look...be sure to get yourself come Matrix, or Bed head, those products rock for doing what your talking about.

I've found that the more it looks like women are doing something to their hair, the less attractive it is. For instance, Jennifer Aniston. I liked her much better with long straight hair than when she had that crazy Rachel hairstyle.
Honestly, I don't quite follow what you're trying to do to your hair, Jesae, but I would recommend against it if it looks artificial.

Women like change and one thing that is pretty easy to change is thier hair color.
I don't know if I ever want to go back from BLACK AS MY SOUL.

When I went blonde I didn't go all at once, it took years. Basically I had my hair highlighted and colored every month or so until eventually I got to the color I liked and kept it. It wasn't such a drastic change so I was able to ease into it and like it more than I think I would have if I tried to do it all at once. (Unlike my journey back to darker hair...THAT was traumatizing cuz I went in and whammo...my hair was black again. It was horrifying...but not really)

Blondes are ugly and anyone who willingly dyes their hair any shade lighter than pitch black is as stupid as blondes.

I've actually done that to my hair, Jesae. It is so much easier to fix and I've gotten lots of compliments. It is DEFINATELY more comfortable to have short hair when its soo freaking hot. I say go for it. If you don't like it you could always dye it back to its original color, and it'll grow back in no time. It's always fun to do something new and different.

P.S. Long hair is so much hotter.

I think people who dye their hair for the "make me look better" reasons are pathetic. But because I think that I usually have to keep my mouth shut and tone down that opinion, because I'll get my head bit off by everyone who does it.
A person is born with a natural hair color, keep it. Chances are a person will look gorgeous with their natural hair color, anyway.
Not only that, dye absolutely ruins your hair.
This will sound hypocritical, but remember I said for the "make me look better" reasons. I dyed my hair a few different colors, blue, red, green, bleached, pink ... chopped it up in to a mohawk and all that jazz too... (I did this my first month of my first year in college, as a rebellious thing because I could). I hated it, I hated the way my hair felt, I hated to have it fade, I hated everything to do with it... I eventually took a razor and cueballed my head, letting it grow new again.
The sad thing is, I have to deal with this on a daily basis - sad being because it's a big pet peev of mine. There's nothing I can do about it, but complain here and again, so I just live with it.
However, my aunt owns a hair salon, so I get whatever I want done to my hair for free.
In any case, that's my rant, provoked by this topic. Hope you enjoy your dyed head.

Funny you say that...I used to joke with people and tell them I dyed my hair blonde just so they would know I was a little ditzy. Sadly, now that I've gone back to black, the ditzy part hasn't changed much.

I dyed my hair once. Not entirely, but yellowed up a few inches in the front. I thought it looked pretty cool.

Has to be styled right, though.

Go for it Jesae! Nothing more fun than trying a new hairstyle/color. From what you described, I think it'd work for you too.

I can envision it. I say do it. If you don't like it, you can always go back to the norm in a couple months.

I want to chop all my hair off, but I have given up over very loud, frantic objection. Yeah, you heard it, I bow to the will of a man. Next thing you know he'll be smacking me around. Though, that might be kind of hot.

ROFL.
Hehe, yeah the boyfriend would prefer my hair long but too damned bad. I'd like him stop buzzing his hair too short for me to get a hold onto. <wicked grin>
BUT, I figure he'd be content with me going blonde, he jokes that when I change my haircolor its like "getting some strange".
I'll most likely go to the school I live by like you suggested, it will still cost me upwards about 40 bucks or so.
Sergey, let me leave you with a story, since I don't carry a camera around with me to class.
I run into my HST 350 class, sit in the nearest chair (because, naturally, I'm late.) I'm sweating my ass off and feel a trickle down my neck. I wipe it. My whole hand is saturated, I could pretty much flick sweat off onto neighboring classmates. I ended up rubbing it in to my jeans. Lovely, eh?
