Lich wants to suddenly show links in Avalon?! help

Unlike Stormfront, there are no links or clickable text in Avalon. All of the sudden, it seems like lich wants to show where links would be (I think), and does it to speech too. Here are a few examples:

äYou exclaim†
äJasnel quietly says†

I've highlighted the odd characters in black but it doesn't really solve anything since I get a lot of weird spacing. Plus, no matter what I do, it messes up a lot of my highlights.

Anyone have some idea why this just randomly started happening and how I can fix it, short of reinstalling Lich? (installing Lich on Mac is a pain and takes forever).

Also, this doesn't happen when I log in without Lich.

Lich probably thinks the frontend is the WizardFE. Did you take out the --avalon parameter when starting Lich?

If nothing else you could put this in a script and set it as a fav:
$link_highlight_start = ''
$link_highlight_end = ''
$speech_highlight_start = ''
$speech_highlight_end = ''
