Are you a closet gamer?

Read this article and it got me curious: Closet Video Gamers (http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/News/story?id=156103&page=1)

"In a game you're in control, you're the author," he said. "It is a fundamental part of human nature to want that, and video and computer games are the only forms of entertainment that allow you to do that."

Most of my friends just can't understand the intrigue of a text based game. I just find it easier to be a closet gamer.

While most of my friends play graphicals, tabletop, LARP, or video games... they're mostly gamers.

I tried explaining it to my friends and they didn't get it. I did get one to play and another played for a while and met her husband on there..but aside from that, I'm pretty much a closet gamer.

Very much a closet gamer. My friends don't understand what I'm talking about when I've tried to explain. My boyfriend has seen me play it and just thinks I'm crazy.

When I played, my friends knew I played. They might not have understood, and some thought I was bonkers, but that didn't particularly bother me. I'm accustomed to people thinking I have a screw loose. ;)

Most of my friends are gamers so I am in good company. They also are the ones that introduced me to Gemstone.

I don't care who knows I play GS.. hell I brag about it.. well till that dull, glassy eyed look settles over thier faces, which is my clue to STFU.

I'm surrounded by geeky people. Those that don't understand what I like to do get odd glances from the rest of us. :D

The last time I told anyone about Gemstone or this website...

Well, all chaos broke out and the PC suffered a rather interesting series of events.

Since then, I have never spoken about Gemstone.

I'm a pretty normal guy and she's a history grad student. So she likes to tell people I play an on-line role playing game so that she doesn't feel nearly as dorky. That shit kinda pisses me off.

My friends used to know that I played. I got ridiculed to no end. They thought I since quit. HAHAHA JOKES ON THEM.

I'd say I'm semi-closet. My closer friends I have known for longer either play or have played, and my bandmates and other people I have met since moving from Chicago barely "get it".

Bah if someone's got a problem with me playing GS they know where they can go.. of course I dont have a husband/wife or other half so I can say that with ease and a hug to all those who's other halves hate them playing GS cuz that bites.
