So apparently, Florida (or at least in Orlando where I live) is going to get totally pwned by Frances. My internet connection at the apartment (where I just moved in last week) has already been intermittent from Charley, and I'm sure Frances will deliver the killing blow unto my apartment complex and leave us without power. Charley took out my complex for a week, so who knows what could happen.

So anyway, if you don't hear from us folk down in Florida, you know why.

I think it's way too soon to start trying to predict exactly where it will hit.

My dad lives in Ormond Beach, which is right along the east coast of FL. Not sure if he has to get evacuated yet..but I heard some 500k people are leaving tomorrow.

That really sucks. Florida got rocked this summer. I'm never moving there. :)

Just wait until that one bit of spain falls into the ocean. A tidal wave's going to sweep across Florida and then hit Mexico.

They’ve already evacuated 200,000 people over Frances.

To those who live in Florida, keep us posted as to your welfare if you can. I, for one, am going to worry myself silly! :(

HarmNone wishes this hurricane would just blow itself out, dammit!

This is why no one should live in Flordia.

Natural disasters, the life blood of my employer.

We're still back logged over the last one that hit. Saturday and Sunday our CS voicemail system crashed due to the influx of customers calling to put a delay on their orders and shipments.

Today we had 38 tons of uncut impact delivered, for the next two weeks we have 693 more tones slated. Impact is glass ... heavy heavy glass that is supposed to withstand blunt impacts in excess of 150mph. Unfortunately blunt impacts aren't the only impacts in a hurricane.

Producing Florida grade casements is time consuming and exhausting. A standard 4 x 3 window casement weighs around 50 - 70 lbs. That weight is pretty equally divided between the glass and metal clad wood frame. Impact glass casements, 120 - 200 lbs for the same size. I've had people going out left and right due to sprains, pulls and tears ... and three concussions.

Since the last hit, our domestic vendors have been sending us crap wood stock, damaged large cut glass, and warped aluminum sheets. Our Canadian vendors remain the same, but can't/won't meet the demand. Says much for Canada when they refuse to lose quality over quantity and much more for my employer when they turn their heads and cover their eyes during heavy cash flow seasons.

Sorry, a bit off topic but I had to vent. I could go one for another few pages but I'll just close by saying I feel for you sun bunnies. If a pair of hurricanes are making my life hell in a land-locked state, I can't imagine what they're doing to you.

My house is on the beach near Fort Lauderdale, needless to say, if it gets hit, it's going out to sea....

Ish, Drew! Keep in touch, if you can. If you have to leave, take a laptop! We need to know where you are, and that you're safe!

That one tropical storm that just went through Richmond knocked my cable out for 12 hours, flooded downtown, and created a few huge sink holes.

I lived through Andrew, I'll live through this one no problem, if it even hits my area

It better not fucking ruin my Labor Day weekend. Stay the hell away from North Carolina, Frances!

And leave Northern Virginia alone too (I could give a fuck about Richmond & south)

They issued a mandatory evacuation order for the area I live in, so I have to get outta dodge. I sure hope it doesn't hit my house. It's literally 30 feet from ocean and maybe 15 feet above it. They say the storm surge (where the ocean literally rises) could be as high as 10 feet near the eye of the storm, that means that the water would almost touch my house so the waves definately would, basically if it hits us dead on the house is gone...

heading to the shelter, wish me luck.

Holy crap! I can see why over 1 million people have been evacuated. Frances is larger than entire state. Hopefully it dies out quick.

Kick ass! It's way south and west of where I'll be this weekend.
