I'm trying to figure out how I killed this Vvrael Destroyer.

You fire a wooden arrow at a Vvrael destroyer!
AS: +585 vs DS: +327 with AvD: +20 + d100 roll: +66 = +344
... and hit for 60 points of damage!
Attack punctures the eye and connects with something really vital!
The Vvrael destroyer crumples to the floor motionless.
The scintillating red light surrounding the arrow fades some.
The wooden arrow sticks in a Vvrael destroyer's right eye!
Roundtime: 4 sec.

244 * .175 (longbow vs plate) = 42.7 raw damage
rank 4 crit = +17 damage
total 59.7, rounded to 60.

You need 44 raw damage to achieve rank 4 vs plate, and yet, there's a rank 4 to the eye. Did I benefit from some sort of weighting? I was sniping from hiding with 608, unsighted bow, ebladed arrows, 40 DEX bonus.

I know you know that DEX adds phantom weighting to bows at Bonus/4? So you've got 10 points of weighting. Must have been applied to the raw damage.

Rank 4 crit = 17 damage.
observed base damage: 43 damage.
Need 44 to achieve rank 4
1 phantom damage

You get phantom DEX weighting with a bow... I've been working with Riltus and documenting it Here

Archery definitely has phantom dex bonus... I've observed up to 9 phantom damage against cloth type armor.

Testing has been halted due to time constraints IRL... and there being a lot more factors involved in the equation than we anticipated.

Actually, no. I was under the impression that someone found that DEX didn't add weighting. Glad to be wrong.

Gives you real bang for your buck with DEX enhancives, IME.

The Dex weighting appears to be based on the weapon.
Maximum weighting may also be limited based on the target's armor, or by weapon type.
According to some information from Riltus, the limit, or a flat value, may be added by profession.

Quite a few variables to test!

That's the point where I say, "Dex - It R Gud. More? Even Gudder."

Oh thank god. Because ranged weapons really needed the help.
