In DR one of the moons was actually an egg that hatched the World Dragon, the World Dragon then laid waste to Elanthia and then was sung to sleep by one of the goddesses in the world. This is what led people to assume DR was the same Elanthia simply thousands of years following GS, after the world rebuilt.

Krynn (the world Dragonlance is based in) does have three moons (Solinari, Lunitari, and Nuitari) but they each House the specific deities that grant powers to wizards on Krynn, being the White robes(good), Red Robes(neutral), and Black Robes(evil), respectively. As far as I know there were never any dragon eggs on any of these moons, although there is a more recent novel by Weiss and Hickman called "Dragons of A Vanished Moon" that I haven't read yet. I'm pretty sure you're thinking of the original series, where good dragon eggs were taken to create Draconians.

Everything Simu is offering is virtual and most of it is just virtual currency and adding your name to some list. Talk about a cash grab.


As experienced game developers we know that there are always potential snags in the production timeline, especially as we continue to add new environments, dragons and riders to the mix. We don’t foresee any particular trouble but it’s possible that the finished product could take longer than expected.

The goal will make sure that we cover all the infrastructure needs to be accessible to players, not just from the US, but also Europe and even Asia. It will also allow cover the art needs for more dragons, more riders, and more maps for everyone to enjoy.

So it sounds like to me the game is basically done they just want to be able to penetrate (heh) every market from the beginning instead of starting small and expanding.

Compare this to the Star Citizen kickstarter and you'll see what a good kickstarter looks like and then load up this one and you'll see what a bad one looks like. No concrete goals, poor sales pitch, and the worst part about it is the pledge tiers are awful.

This game doesn't seem to have a sense of speed at any altitude. Flying around on a mount in WoW seems like it'd be more exciting.

They should take a page from the original Warhawk game on PS1 where it always felt like you were flying really fast no matter how high up you were. Or the fighter jets in GTA V.

Flying games where you always feel like you're going slow are destined to never be any fun.

I hooked up my XBox controller. It is a lot better than the keyboard. Still use the mouse to look and shoot though. It is an odd arrangement. Run the DRAGONSOFELANTHIATEST file that should be just below it. It is the launcher and needs to DL more stuff

Worked fine installing for me and I'm running it in VMWare since I'm a mac user. Works perfectly fine. I've never done flight simulators and therefore I'm terrible at flying. If there was an award for killing yourself I'd most likely win it at this point.

There isn't much depth to it, it is pretty much fly around and kill other dudes on other dragons, quite a few bugs (especially with sound). The controls are difficult initially, you can hook up a controller for flight and such, but I'd still recommend the mouse for looking and shooting. It is alpha though, so who knows how much the game will or won't improve by Beta and then by release.

I got in, but pretty much everything text-wise is impossible to read so I only played with it a little. Then every time I joined a fight the screen split in two and it was nothing but tearing so I gave up.

I managed to play with 2 GS accounts running lich simultaneously last night. I crashed my dragon a lot and it's kind of funny when the rider falls off and dies. I spent some time reconfiguring the controls and did a little better.

Maybe he sees an alpha with promise, that's the thing I wrote in my thread about streaming it, this game isn't hopeless, it's just not fun. If they spend the time to polish and fix a few design flaws (the free look, the levels being disorientating) it could be a fun game.

Well, it is alpha. I think the game needs stuff like a leveling system and such. Something that makes it more than just a dragon shooter... And who knows what else they may or may not have planned.

After seeing the video on the quote, I can see why someone like TB would like it. He's all about arena brawlers, quick dip-in, dip-out PvP style games. I guess that's not gelling with GSIV's main target audience, mmm?

He likes flight sims, though, so for him to say it's far more complex than World of Warplanes (same guys as World of Tanks) is...bizarre. Because I don't associate complex engines doing innovative things with Simutronics. After all, they made the Hero Engine. :P

This isn't the first aerial MOBA-esque game that has been introduced.

They've all flopped, and for good reason. With as intense as most MOBA games go, introducing aerial mechanics and directional combat is a bit over the top for the average gamer.

They said in one of those videos that the game was more or less done, and the kickstarter was for 'marketing'. :lol: It's not on Steam Greenlight anymore, either. Simu lied, and videogames died.

If it were truly cancelled though I'd expect the entire website to be taken down, but their wording makes it seem like it's on the backest of burners, behind even Savants.

As far as MOBAs, that market is really saturated and SIMU doesn't have anywhere near the skills needed to get something like that off the ground.
