Keep gathering until;

a) you met your weekly limit, don't bother overhunting unless you are looking for treasure
b) you have met your total cap of 3500 energy, use it! If you haven't met your weekly cap you aren't being efficient!
c) you have met both your weekly and your total cap. next time your lumnis starts you better have room for more energy!

Yes. No question about it. It's hard to get to the weekly cap if you don't hunt past fried.

Im curious and going to jump in here as well. how can you see your cap? I have a sorc ready for a t1 but I want to continue saving.

Cast 735 openly. If you've hit your weekly or your total maximum it will indicate there underneath the energy levels line.
