View Full Version : First Aid useless?

I noticed in all these posts about stat placements and skills that no one seems to include first aid.

1) Is it not worth it since I used to play several years ago? Have the mechanics of the skill changed such it that isn't?

2) What do hunting rogues do when they're bleeding like crazy?

3) Is it that most rogues are in CoL?

4) What about skinning as a money maker?

Couple things. Its now only half of the equation; survival is the other half now (ie. 2 ranks total is good, be that doubling in one or singling in each). Also, I've heard skins are worth less now than before. And herbs work for bleeding too.

Just to elaborate a tiny bit on whats been said...

1.) Thats a mix of perception. In a way it is more useful than it was but in the eyes of players, perhaps not so much.

2 + 3) CoL is one way around it and a couple pounds of herbs works as well. Tending then swinging unbandages stuff so you'd have to go to town anyway. Plus, empaths are kinda pretty darn common now.

4.) Skins are now subject to hunting pressure just like treasure. (ie the more it is hunted, the more the price drops)

First aid training now reduces herb eating RT. Snagging a couple ranks so you can chew down acantha might not be bad but most people can stand the 5 seconds between.

I single in FA and Survival with my rogue. On a normal hunt, I can average 5-13K selling skins. And this is on a creature that's hunted regularly.

That must take HOURS!

FA doesn't just help you skin things.

I have other methods of attaining coins with my rogue ;) so I don't train in first aid. He's in COL, so staunching is fine. He has no problem with empaths so he allows them to heal him.

You see, Stray is helping, but not really.

Kind of like when you ask someone "Can you tell me the value of Pi to the 12th decimal" and they say "Yes".

Well, to be more specific, FA helps with skinning, foraging, tending, and most importantly (to me) reduces RT from eating herbs.

This is also pretty cool about FA:
The furrier takes the leather cloak and inspects the contents carefully before saying, "There are 12 items that I do not deal with at all. I did find 129 items that I'll give you 128413 silver for, if you want to sell."

Another good haul, not bad for an hour:
The furrier takes the leather cloak and inspects the contents carefully before saying, "There are 12 items that I do not deal with at all. I did find 163 items that I'll give you 165404 silver for, if you want to sell."

Best tonight:
