how much additional ds would I get by 2x shields if I was using a spear 1 handed?

With 2x shield use you're probably better off with a medium, unless there are shield-mans you want to use that require a larger one... which you probably don't qualify for anyway. I figured out the old shield formula years ago when no one knew how it worked, and folks thought there was a secret bonus for more than 300 ranks, but I've never bothered with the new one. Do you mean 2x sheilds and 1 Hander vs. Two-handed and 2x dodge --- or --- 2x Shield+2xDodge+1hPolearm?

2x shield vs. 2x dodge - it would be about the same, but you would get the 35 from the shield + a ton more of bolt/spell protection. Thaluhar at level 50, with 2x shield and no dodge, spelled up (wiz/ranger) runs a DS of about 330-360 (depending if I run zealot).

I am using a spear 1 handed .I am wondering how much more ds should expect if I get a 7x tower shield and 2x shields

You won't really get that much more vs melee attacks, but it makes a difference. Keep in mind that if you're in the scatter, the destroyers like to sunder shield, and they're pretty good at it. On the plus side, if you're carrying a shield, they'll do that instead of tackling you... which they're also good at.

2x shield you'll have plenty.. especially if you pump up blessing lores and use 1609. If want more AS, just STOP 1609 and run 1617.

People might be missing a couple things that would be important. Going by your stats is this question for Hoy? Or an actual paladin? This character is obviously a halfling which is why I ask. Being 2x in dodge you are going to add more DS by using a shield but you'd get the most DS by using a small shield in either case. The only thing is that if this is for a paladin most of the shield maneuvers that they can learn require a large or tower shield, in which case you'd be better off with a large shield to use those maneuvers.

Ok I did some testing again.
While holding spear 2 handed in offensive-633
while holding a spear one handed In offensive-603 defense
while holding spear one handed and 7x tower shield= 525 (0 ranks)
529 ds (10 ranks)
534 ds (20 ranks)
546 ds (50 ranks)

So does that mean my ds will be about 609 when I am fully 2x?
45 more ds if I use medium size shield
55 for buckler

Its for Hoy too Whirlin, so if you do math make sure to include the 102 phantom dodge ranks he'd be getting from mobiles.
