Meaning of the term "orb fodder"?

Been seeing that term used a lot and wanted to know what it refers to. I'm sure it will be self evident, but only after I'm told!

Items (usually not inherently useful, like low enchant staves or weapons) with enhancive properties that can be useful in an orb. Orb shaman comes around once in awhile (one will be at RtCF next month) and you can pay it to make you an orb out of an item. Destroys the item in the process.
