Post links to some of your favorite songs. They don’t have to be complete. Whatever.

Post your favorite artists sites. They probably have some tracks to listen to, or some teasers.

If I put a back-up on my server don’t download it for your own safety.

Oh, check this dude out... Polyvinyl (http://www.polyvinyl.org/). Tons of free trippy tracks. Not a bad website either.

If we spread info about what really is talent, the artists will be the winners.to mean that you were linking to somebody else's music in a less-than-Kosher fashion. Electronica/Dance

4.14MB Download

Jazzanova’s CD, In Between is a study in jazz/transfusion/trip-hop. Definately a Sunday morning kind of groove. Thought provoking. This is the kind of rap I totally dig. This CD has more good raps, beautiful female vocals (singing and spoken), and an insane drummer mixed in with mellow jazz grooves. Its already a year old.

Good ole southern shit-kicker rock, but with a less-than-conservative twist. As American as Garth Books, definately has that country feel, but much less shallow. Very very deep.

Mobb Deep never gets a break. Perhaps it's the results of being dissed by two brilliant rap auteurs (Tupac Shakur and Jay Z) and dissed so evocatively, or perhaps its merely lack of ability, lack of ability to network, which in some ways is more important than musical or poetic ability in the nonsense known as the commerical rap game these days. They've been around for a long time as a partnership, a duo, when many such similar partnerships have broken up (Paul Wall and Chamillionaire my most recent favorite). Amerikkaz Nightmare is a really rather good album that didn't sell at all. Perhaps it is somewhat to do with the fact that a lot of their core fanbase got put off by the albums "commercialism" but having a number one single does not mean an album is bad (despite rht's opinion on commercial rap, he liked this album). I think is more that it wasn't promoted properly.

So then, a bit back... a former manager of theirs declares they have broken up. Many people are horrified. I'm a bit saddened myself. People BELIEVED it. Only thing is, they didn't break up. They were touring. In Europe of all things. So they release a track to explain things. And a video! A rap video in France. And its brilliant. It is about partnership.

Definitely an upbeat samba/basso nova sound mixed with groove, funk and electronica. Seemless mixes and choice picks of forgotten gold. Good times.

Anna Waronker (http://www.annawaronker.com/) sang for That Dog back in the 90's grunge days. I picked up That Dog and loved it but never heard much since.

After messing around with iTunes I’ve found some older CDs they put out and that the singer embarked on a solo thing in 02.

Good rock with girl-angst lyrics. A lot like Liz Phair.

that's good music if you are considering shooting your highschool classmates.

Or, perhaps if you were interested in killing small animals.

perhaps you enjoy long strolls along the beach while caving the heads in of baby seals. Sounds like a good part of that soundtrack to me.

Perhaps nothing sounds better than cookie monster ranting as he sits constipated on the porcelian throne?

all that energy could be going towards creating beautiful art. How sad.

Went to one of his sets when I was living in NYC. Not prolific, but definitely talented. If you can consider DJ's talented.

I picked up his latest, Bucovina Club Vol. 2. An import for $25 bones. At first I was going to take it back. But after listening to it, it really rocks. Hot Balkan beats. You don’t have to be Mediterranean to want to hop around to this stuff.

Zero 7

http://www.zero7.co.uk/

Just saw them the other night and what a show! They have a similar vibe to Hooversonic. Not a jump around band, a cocktail at the table nod your head band. Much like a 30s dinner club vocalist belting out the sweet sounds with a wicked back band.

So, one of the main singers name is Sia. She just released a new album called “Color the Small One.” It will be sold at American Eagle Outfitters, which is cool that AEO likes her that much and gets her music out, but she also did an exclusive track and video for them. Listen at www.ae.com or download and unzip the link below. Enjoy.

The chick Wendy Carlos (http://www.wendycarlos.com/), did that soundtrack. Don’t quote me unless I quote it, but she programmed every single note on a computer. Thats why the William Tell Overture was so crazy, among other compositions. Remember, its all Bethoven.

Azam Ali (http://www.azamalimusic.com/)

As an aside... If you were wondering what kind of music comes out of Iran, I am quoting a previous post so you can find out. She does live in LA now, but was Iranian born and has incredible Iranian musical talent behind her.

Since Tower Records went bankrupt another company bought them out and is in the process of liquidating the stores. I shit you not, 30% off all games, new releases included, 15% of all music and DVDs, boxed sets/collections/ imports... everything included. Supposedly they will be in this liquidation mode through Christmas.

Anyway, found a disc of a band I heard about in '97, Breakestra (http://www.ubiquityrecords.com/ur178.html). Funk, jazz, soul... sounds like the disc was made in the mid-seventies. They definitely use the James Brown/Mayfield formula for their tunes. Fun stuff. Link has free mp3s.

Yes, because the Spice Girls represent the sum total of all female artists from the UK in the last 10....OH wait, they haven't been together for nearly a decade now have they?

Personally they have more credibility. They never pretended they were anything but shitty singers with a clever marketing ploy. Unlike the "tormented" and "soulful" Allen.

Queen Adreena
Imogen Heap/Frou Frou

Pretty Girls Make Graves

To be fair, Lily Allen sucks. Amy Winehouse is amazing though, prefer her first album to the newest, but they both rock.

I quite like Joss Stone too, even though she is a bit retarded. The song she did with Common is really nice.
