View Full Version : RtCF Service Questions
I figured it would be nice to have a thread for this. I'll start it off with a few.
1. If you get a *bane on a vanilla 7x weapon, does it remain blessable (not undead bane of course)?
2. I have a 4x mechanical dagger that does piercing flares. Can that be made into a returner?
3. How much scroll use does a self-charging rune tattoo require?
4. Can a 4x/4x Acutity staff have additional acuity added to it?
5. Can vanilla veil iron be permablessed or given undead bane, or otherwise flared/weighted?
5. And finally, how are sales of major services handled? I'm asking for a friend.

1. Yes.
2. No
3. Like a regular scroll invoke, depends on the spell number and circle
4. Yes, Acuity goes to 10 ranks
5. Yes

1. yes
2. possibly no, some of those flares are script based
3. Okay, this is odd. Virilneus is capped for scroll reading skill. If I invoke, say, a 1701 scroll, my modifiers in the 1d100 roll are around 400. When I invoke my scroll tattoo my modifiers are around 600. I feel as though, for invoking success (not for duration) a phantom scroll reading bonus is applied. No GM has stated this in any fashion, but I can't explain why otherwise the positive modifier for using my scroll tattoo is the highest I've ever seen in game, by a long shot. It could also be because, since 1109 isn't allowed on scrolls, some GM forgot to code in a scroll invoking difficulty for it so it defaults to be 0 difficulty (akin to me invoking 701 on a scroll or something).
4. Yes, but you'll be happier if you sell your slot to me should you be picked. Promise.
5. Think so
6. Out of respect, best done quietly, through lnet not whispers if possible, with handoffs done in a different room than the service room.
5. No on permablessing. Yes on undead bane.
Thanks for the help, everyone.

A little elaboration on #6...
a. For sales of major slots, there's no reason not to do a public auction. Most bidders will think to you privately, and that's fine... but you can expect some lowballs, too. So go public. Use the merchant channel (;chat :merchant).
b. Once you've got a winner, do ALL your communication via lnet (;chat ::winner). Don't talk in the room. Don't whisper in the room. Don't whisper ooc in the room. And if you don't use Lich, get on the AIM chat room and get help from someone else as a go-between. Yeah, it varies by merchant, and it varies by GM, but you have every reason to be discreet.
