I used to have a bunch of shit on them. Let me see if I can find it.

Not a ton of information I don't think. Which can be a good thing, actually. It means you can develop them how you want to!

Or Gelston is hoarding it all!

There isn't a lot of OFFICIAL information on them, and a lot of the stuff that is official is generally in the histories of other houses and the Human Empire history docs. Look also to the Winedotter gnome docs.

Ive read 90% of the play.net documentation on everything. I have not seen winedotter gnomes but i shall look at them tonight after work. I know there was a couple players who i was told to look up IG for history/lore.Any info would be great even logs/notes from the ?windrunner? I think it stopped and allowed viewing of the city.

Yeah, the Wavedancer went there.

I have always thought of the Nalfein as Renaissance Italy, namely, Venice.

Sneaky, conniving, opulent.

Probably a good style and culture reference if you're looking for one.

But I don't play a Nalfein, maybe the ones who do have other ideas.

I could see a comparison with the Venetians.. Heck, Venetians had a powerful navy and often fought the Ottoman Empire.. Nalfeins have a powerful Navy and often fight the Turamzzyrian Empire. I've personally always been under the impression that the Nalfein state was likely the most powerful out of all the Elven houses... Militarily and Economically. I mean, they live right next to the human empire and have fought them quite a few times and have a heck of a Navy too. The Vaalor get all the pomp, but I think when it comes down to it, they are past their glory days (I'd think Spartans around the 200s BC when they were a shell of their former glory).

I can see that. Venetians are manipulative. I got some info from a couple people, but the more the merrier. Im also hoping for a log from the wavedancer trip with all the cool sights from the side of the ship.

Related tangent, but I am looking for some Illistim-related inspirations.

Is there a state, a place in time, we think best represents them?

Vaalor is very Prussian, Nalfein Venetian, the Faendryl somewhat Ancient Egyptian... what's a real-world style/cultural reference for Illistim? Medieval Paris? Byzantium?

Having never played an elf nor read very much into them, I always though Ancient Greece, or Athens to be more specific.

I would say medieval Paris is quite near the mark, personally. Various locales in Ta'Illistim, particularly the belltowers and the keep, remind me of some artist's renderings and photos of still-standing buildings and such.

And then there's this virtual tour. (http://www.secretsofparis.com/heathers-secret-blog/virtual-tour-of-medieval-paris.html) If someone showed me that out of context and told me that's how they see Ta'Illistim, I wouldn't bat an eye.

This is how I always saw the ancient Faendryl-headed elven empire, to be honest.

It never fails to amaze me how two seperate people can have two totaly different ideas of what something looks like in this game, yet be talking about the same place.

Illistim always reminded me sorta of Rome in appearance, with the fountains and amphitheatres (Yes, it has one) and such. I suppose any city that the Romans controlled during that time would be similar, however. The Illistim Elves are definitely French though.

didn't they show off some parts of Ta'Nalfein during that in-game cruise? prob doesn't help much with character development tho
