Hey,
My hamstring is terrible. What can I use to improve it? Am I doing something wrong? Any factors I should know about?
It's currently at rank 2 and I can't raise it any farther for my level.
You quickly dart behind a bright green monkey and try to hamstring her with your imflass ice axe and imflass warblade!
[Roll result: 54 (open d100: 39) Bonus: 5]
Your swing goes wide!
Roundtime: 3 sec.
As you can see... it's pretty shit right now.
Edit: Stance is a huge factor.

The reason why it sucks it precisely because it is only at rank 2. The only thing you can do to improve that (my guess) is to rank up higher when possible.

You are using two shitty weapons with serious negative mods for hamstring. Use smaller blades like shortswords, daggers, rapiers... even longswords would be better than those.
Me at rank 4.
>cman hamstring mino
You quickly dart behind a lesser minotaur and try to hamstring him with your handaxe and handaxe!
[Roll result: 115 (open d100: 46) Bonus: 5]
With a vicious double-strike you slash at the lesser minotaur's right hamstring!
... 7 points of damage!
Roundtime: 3 sec.

R>cman hamstring
You quickly dart behind a lesser minotaur and try to hamstring him with your coraesine dagger and coraesine dirk!
[Roll result: 126 (open d100: 57) Bonus: 5]
With a vicious double-strike you slash at the lesser minotaur's right hamstring!
... 18 points of damage!
The lesser minotaur falls to the ground grasping its mangled right leg in agony!
The lesser minotaur is stunned!
You feel a slight resistance from the weapon. Quicker than you are able to react the resistance fades and you notice your movements speed up!
You swing a coraesine dagger at a lesser minotaur!
A blast of air strikes the lesser minotaur.
... 20 points of damage!
Strike to head breaks cheekbone.
Roundtime: 3 sec.

Ah. I was thinking ranks had a linear bonus. +10 at rank 2, +15 at rank 3. That clearly does not look to be the case.

I don't really see any negative mods, unless you are referring to the damage when the weapons hit? The hitroll looks to be the same between the handaxe and the daggers. My main concern was actually hitting them.
But it seems like higher levels provide a substantial bonus over the previous ranks.
I'm also not sure that pitting coraesine weapons against handaxes is a fair comparison.

It looks like stance is a big factor too.
You quickly dart behind a stout bright orange monkey and try to hamstring him with your imflass ice axe and imflass warblade!
[Roll result: 132 (open d100: 58) Bonus: 4]
With a vicious double-strike you slash at the orange monkey's right hamstring!
... 15 points of damage!
Roundtime: 3 sec.

He means weapon size. The same thing applies to ambush % chance to hit the target you want.
Also, the coraesine means nothing when it comes to hitting with hamstring.

Smaller weapons have a higher chance to prone & stun versus large ones.
Or it might be better said that larger weapons have a significantly lower chance to "rank up" the stun and crit from hamstring.

Yeah, I'm not really understanding this penalty. Our attacks are looking similar now that I'm in stance offense.

It is +15 bonus per rank but this is also against something of like level and something without any training to defend against it. Level plays a factor into how well maneuvers work on things, obviously the higher above you the less effective they will become. You also have size bonuses, which is likely were the +5 bonus at the end is coming from. If you train in weapon specialization that would give you additional bonus.

Ahh interesting. I'm a halfling though, so that's kind of weird. Maybe because it's easier to reach the legs?
I'm a ranger so no weapon spec for me. Is it the AS bonus that helps? Or just a weapon spec passive. If so, does that mean better enchanted weapons will also help?

" adds +2 to Attack Strength (AS) and bonuses to CML attack/defensive strength (per rank) when using a weapon of the type chosen to specialize in."
They're separate.
