Great deals on Borderlands 2, XCom, Skyrim... and a bunch of other games you should have played already...

Just letting you know...

Also, wait to buy games when go up on the daily deals or flash sales. If they don't by the end of the sale, you have plenty of time to pick them up for their discounted price. If you buy early at 50% off you might miss it at 75-90% off on a flash sale

Also... give me all of your trading cards... because... I want them for no specific reason.

I dont have a single card. I have a number of the games already that give cards though.

This card thing, and the steam level thing.. just seems silly to me.

I got a ton for CK2. None of my other games really seemed to generate boosters for me that much. Traded for some Borderlands 2.

I'm waiting until september, that's when Rome 2 is due out, isn't it?

I think so. Europa Universalis 4 in August I think.

I think I have probably spent more hours playing RTW than any other game, ever. Masters of Orion 2 has got to be a close second, though. Really all I want from the world of video games at this moment is for them to remake Chaos Gate. A man of simple tastes.

I'd kill for a remake of the old Masters of Magic game... Apparently there have been like, half a dozen companies that have attempted, but all have failed.

That was a great game.

Just wrapped up Resident Evil: Revelations. Started playing Sleeping Dogs. It's like Shenmue.

Got Hotline Miami and Bioshock. The only other things I might get are Monaco, Dead Island: Riptide, and Ace Combat if they go 75% off.

As stupid as it is I'm having fun with the trading cards. Already crafted my summer sale badge because I had a lot of mystery cards from crafting stuff earlier.. sold a TF2 item that was worth about $10 and some double cards to pay for it.

Damn... Dark Souls price is a steal. Everybody needs to play this game, guys. It must feed upon your feeble lives.

Edit: Don't forget the #1 rule of Steam sales: don't buy unless it's a Daily or Flash Deal, or wait until the last day of the sale.

I hope they put the Ys games on sale.

Endless space is a really fun strategy game. And they do like to do free content updates.

Nabbed Dark Souls, Rogue Legacy, and a bunch of DLC/gifts. Traded my way up through CK2 and Skyrim badges and shamelessly completed my Borderlands 2 one for a bit of cash too.

The thing that really suprised me/turned me off to it is that the combat is card based. I was expecting something more like Civilization or Sins of a Solar Empire.

Heh! What is up with these trading cards? I've gotten quite a few and I don't exactly know how they work. How/why would you or I trade them? For no specific reason.

You collect all the cards in the set, craft them into a badge, and you get experience which levels up your profile plus some other stuff, like emoticons and backgrounds.

If you're not into that, just sell them on the steam market. Most go for 20 - 40 cents.

Foils go for a bit under 2 bucks and booster packs go for a bit over 2 bucks.

The booster packs I've seen are a lot cheaper than $2. I think foils will stay that price for a while just because they're so rare.

Anybody play War of the Roses? How does it compare to Chivalry?

Taernath
07-17-2013, 04:13 PM
It's got Mount & Blade style combat, where clickdragging does differently angled attacks. Chivalry is a *little* bit more tactical, with stamina loss, kicks and feints, plus combos. TotalBiscuit did a pretty good comparison a while ago:

I got Chivalry a while ago and to be honest I don't particularly like it. It feels like most people play it as a CoD knife only match with friendly fire, and the hitboxes and lag felt really off, too. I guess there's going to be a big customization upgrade in the new future.

Thanks for the link. Mounted combat and better ranged combat sealed the deal for me. War of the Roses it is!

Sets can get you booster packs. If you play a game a lot there's a tiny incentive to it.

After the sale you'll get coupons instead of the sale specific cards.

Yeah but there are FIVE ranks for the summer badge! :O

So you need five of each card if you care about the badge at all.

Oh come on, it's only a few hundred dollars.

You can also buy the cards from other people for like 10 cents each. Come on, you know you want a shiny Steam badge.

Taernath

Its around $2 - $3 if you buy everything. Less when you sell back any duplicates or misc stuff you don't want.
