Ok, so a common theme that has come up recently amongst some of the GSers I know are ways that we can do karaoke together. Thondalar was SUPPOSEDLY working on a way that we could accomplish this on Vent and listen and/or do duets or whatever. However, in the meantime, I found a couple cool karaoke apps on my iPhone and have been messing around with that. I have recorded about 10-12 songs now, but this is one that I guess I feel 'ready' to share. Don McLean was one of my father's favorites ever, and of course the pinnacle song was American Pie. My father passed away 9 years ago on July 2, so in honor if him, here goes:

Please be gentle (hahaha, ok, well, TRY?) and also, engage! I want to hear some of you sangin', too!

This is awesome! And you have a lovely voice, Miss Leifa, I love the rasp in your voice.

I can't say you'll also hear me singing as well, but props to you!

I like it.

And no, I won't be singing. I'm tone deaf.

That's why you get an app with autotune! Now you have no such excuse of tone deafness.

Aww, shucks! Actually, if click on my pic you can see some of the other songs I've recorded (and there are one or two of my kid, so pardon that, haha!). I can't hit the high notes too well so I'm not likely squeaking out Taylor Swift or belting any Christina Aguilera stuff, but I can rip Stevie Nicks or Patsy Cline like there's no tomorrow. It's the garage band/50 yo smoker's voice (that I've had since I was 16). Also, I often randomly decide to record these at 4 am after several bowls, so...yeah. :)

Smule has different FX to make you sound Indie, Pop Diva, etc and some other effects if you pay more than the basic freebies. I just tend to stick with Normal cause you know, it makes me feel all normal. You'd also be surprised at how good you can sound even if you suck just cause the backup singers are carrying you. Do not fear the microphone!

I have not! Smule is the only app I've found so far that had a decent song selection. I will check that one out, too. Thanks!

I have Smule, but I only use it to play the 'piano'. I don't think I'm confident enough to sing, let alone anyone hear it. But kudos to those (Leifa) who do!

Ventrilo karaoke...where even Elvis would sound like he's singing through a tin can.

Second post in mere minutes that makes me want to come through this monitor and bite you. Wait, even Elvis himself couldn't do that....

<mumble>

edit: 3rd now, count 'em, THREE!

Neato scientific research (http://www.livescience.com/38080-singing-together-affects-health-music.html) to support the call to the mic!
