Has the spell, Disintegrate been revanmped? I have not read anything in the forums or news, but it has changed since yesterday.

Erm, its on the announcements and on the boards. It has been revamped. Less crits, more damage, can disintegrate items, does better on high endrolls, instead of random damage/crits. Can be channelled and used in conjunction with stance for better effect. Open-handedness doesn't effect it.

Hey all, here's a little more detailed information on Disintegrate.
First, looks like I forgot to update CHANNEL in the games, heh. Disintegrate works with CHANNEL now as well. Only stance matters, open-handedness doesn't.
The big problem previously with the spell was the randomness of the crits. Basically, the crits formed the basis for pratically all the damage the spell did, and you could get almost any crit on any result. That meant that (a) you could blow the crap out of stuff on a 101 endroll, and (b) no matter what you did, you had a fair chance of ending up with a crappy result.
So, the new spell is much more reliable. On the low end, that means you're less likely to get a huge result, and on the high end you're less likely to get a crappy result. As well, the spell does more damage and less crits than it used to.
And now, some responses:

That's weird. If I saw one of those things I could look at it and see what's preventing it from being vaporized (in general, most items should be vulnerable, and yes that includes valuable stuff).

The rule is that if it's in your inventory somewhere, you can't disintegrate it unless it's in your hand. If it's on the ground (or in something that's on the ground, or in something that's on something that's on the ground, or whatever), it's fair game.

>(1) What do the second and third lines of damage represent? Does it hit more than one area on the target? Does the beam fork before striking the target?
The first line is raw damage (this would be equivalent to the hidden damage of MD). The second line is the crit. The third line will appear under certain circumstances and represents extra bonus damage.
>(2) Does channeling from guarded stance cause more damage than merely casting from guarded stance?
Channeling from guarded does provide a small bonus (since you're not in defensive).

They should get this guy to do some work for Wizards... whoever's been in charge of Wizards for the past year has apparently done a great job completely screwing up the class (useless Lores, nerfing Recharge Item, useless Stone Fist, etc.)

so what i have read thus far, you can itchy curse, then disintigrate someones valuable weapons and such?

How many of us can hunt in offensive really? or do you guys hunt in neutral?
I hunt in guarded. There is absolutely no need to hunt in any other stance as mana disrupt/implosion works extremely well from that stance.
