Well Bloomberg has lost his mind: http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2013/06/bloomberg-sparkler-terrorists.html
Bloomberg Wants to Protect Us From Sparkler-Wielding Terrorists
A recently passed bill to allow the sale of sparklers in New York wouldn't even apply in the five boroughs, but Mayor Bloomberg is still urging Governor Cuomo to
veto it
, arguing that terrorists could use the fireworks to make a bomb. The mayor's office pointed to failed Times Square bomber Faisal Shahzad, though he used fireworks containing gunpowder, which isn't found in sparklers. You can ponder whether the risks are worth it while making your annual pre-Fourth of July trek to Connecticut.

Because I work the fifth, we're staying home on the fourth to barbecue and devour dead animals while setting off the massive pile of fireworks my husband has worked so diligently to acquire. Should be a good time.

I don't understand this guy at all. Is he really this fucking stupid or does he just love pissing everyone off?

I understand from the internet that you can make smoke bombs from sugar and saltpeter.
I hope they don't take away my sugar. I love my sweets.

Bloomberg already took away big sugary drinks, that was just a prelude to taking away all sugar.

There were really very, very, very few places to buy sparklers, let alone fireworks in NYC now that I think about it. I think Giuliani also cracked down on Chinatown as far as pyrotechnics go. It's weird, because as a little kid in the city, not having easy access to that stuff made me really want it. Maybe that's not so weird. I wonder if you can still buy Estes rocket engines in NYC.

It's for your own protection. I mean just ask Sweet Brown. She thought someone was barbeque'in, but the smoke got her. Dangerous stuff.

Fireworks, even sparklers, are prohibited in Richmond.

My bad. I'll be consuming copious amounts of dead animals as well and shooting off some fireworks.

Normally I would be doing some serious grilling, I am the grillmaster in my house. My sister's boyfriend does not know how to grill and burns everything with the inside raw. Amateur! However, it is supposed to be 107 tomorrow here and standing over a hot grill making Korean bbq, tri-tip and other assorted goodies just does not appeal to me.
I'm thinking therefore, I am going to get up early, walk my dogs so they will get a walk and then go to an early movie. Come home, get out the ice and blender and make me some nice cold alcoholic beverages. I can catch up on movies I haven't watched yet and relax in the air conditioner. I did get invited to a 4th pool party so I might just head over there instead of movies.
Anyway, Happy 4th everyone!
PS I have to work on the 5th too. :(

Dat carc-ass. :3 Same here. Barbecued ribs, chicken thighs, brats, <shifts to Gimli voice> MALT BEER (including some of my first attempt at homebrew) and explosions. So many of my favorite things all at once. God bless America.

Party tonight, neighborhood parade and party tomorrow afternoon, then watching fireworks from a rooftop tomorrow night.

I'll be doing nothing until 9:30pm, then I will take my boy to see the fireworks if he is still awake. Oh, I will probably pick out what tie to wear for the wedding on friday.
The excitement is almost more than I can handle.

Our original plan involved dropping the kids at the grandparents, renting a hotel room at the Tulalip Casino overlooking the fireworks show the tribe puts on every year, then drinking and gambling all night. But instead I got strong armed into working Friday and he spent like 700 bucks on fireworks. I think his brother spent as much. The men in that family are big kids.

I tried to get my wife to let me roast a pig, but she wasn't a big fan of the giant hole I'd have to dig in our yard. So I'm going to do a brisket, two pork butts, and a few whole chickens. We'll take our fappy (fat+happy) asses downtown for fireworks.

If only it just took the right attitude to become a professional gambler. le sigh.

Working while the rest of America eats and gets drunk. I gotta stay ahead somehow. If I could get to work I'd be working but I just am not man enough to drive through a parade.
Instead I will be having potato salad and because it's a holiday macaroni salad too. Nomnomnom.
