Yeah. You heard me right. A cudgel. A badass one. Trolls and cudgel-haters, please go back to your lances and keep your comments to yourselves.

There's a vial flaring cudgel out there. Menos maybe has it. And some other wonky one with weighting. The older telescope cylinders are lances when opened and cudgels in cylinder form.
That's about all you got.

I have no idea where the vial cudgel is these days. The truth is that I am very hard pressed to think of any top end cudgels. Have you considered going the "looks like a cudgel but is really a hammer/quarterstaff/mace" route?

I heard Bows are effectively cudgels when swung...

There is a cudgel that lives beyond this world of cudgels...

Close enough without Krakii access to validate at the moment!

Just out of curiosity... Why cudgel?
Eh, it fits a concept I have in mind. I'm of the opinion that you make the concept, and then stick to it and *make* it work. It's that process of making it work that results in an unusual, and perhaps more interesting (hopefully), character. If you cut corners, use a mace altered into a cudgel for example, you wind up not having to 'make' it work and then you have a cookie cutter. Personally I try to make it work, and if it doesn't it doesn't. One of my favorite, and most powerful and effective, characters result from this approach (granted he has a really, really good trident...).
Incidentally, the concept is loosely a tavern brawling dwarf warrior that is permanently shit-faced. I know it's probably been done, but I've actually never seen it RP'd with any conviction...

I'm expecting you to carry around booze and be fall down drunk all the time when hunting... you know... if you want to REALLY do it right.

You stumble and fall on your face
A kobold eats you.
You are dead.

Use the telescoping cylinder. Then upgrade it with some enchants, flares, maybe a bane. I'm pretty sure I've seen one or two already 7x ones floating around. That would be a good start.
If that's what you want to do, go for it. I'm the guy that's spent an absurd amount on upgrading a jeddart axe. Which, while not as bad as a cudgel, is pretty much shit. All because of the love of a hoes.

If you're going to go that route, there are some bar-flavored brawling weapons out there. Maybe you should just go monk, drunken master style.

That's an idea
get one of those bags of scrap metal...
oh and upgrade the hell out of it... strip the weighting enchant it up to 7x or more and then get some weighting, flares, etc...
I forgot what base those were tho...

I'd go scrap metal bag. They're badass.

Scrap of metal bags were 4x morning stars. Came in two varieties: 4x heavy damage weighted or 4x blessable.

Nope.
>inspect my bag
You carefully inspect your mesh bag.
After a careful inspection you determine that an indigo mesh bag of broken lockpicks requires skill in blunt weapons to use effectively. It appears to be a modified war hammer.
It looks like this item has been mainly crafted out of steel.

I just want to say I love this thread. Hard to find people who are supportive of mechanically-challenged RP builds these days.

Hmm, I could always start enchanting a belaying pin. I'm sort of having second thoughts though. I'd never looked at the AvD numbers for cudgels, and holy crap...against torso chain it's AvD is 17 friggin lower than a mace. If you just look at the DF, they're not *that* bad, but the truth is that they're also basically -2x compared to other 5 second RT weapons.

Another RP concept falls before the grinding machine that is efficacy! ...But I can't say I blame you friend.

birch-hafted mithril-studded cudgel
1x OHB, +2 to OHB ranks, huge charges, persistent, req lvel 6, 4 pounds
Falstronne says, "I believe your cudgel is already fully charged."
:D
Sygil81

oh, also:
a deeply curved incarnadine fang:
4x acid flares, war hammer base, 7 pounds
You got into a fight with a wolf, wrestled it to the ground and took it's fang. Stressed out to the point of habitual drinking, now you stab people with your trophy!
And if you want to deal with lower AvD on a cudgel, try an ambusher. Rogue or ranger maybe? If you HAVE to be a warrior, train brawling and OHB, jab, jab, kick, disarm, pick up their weapon and hit them while they're down (assuming they are using an OHB, which it seems like a lot of critters do).

Hey, if it is what you want for your character I say do it. Who cares if there is a better weapon choice out there, be different.

I prefer the noun, knee-breaker for a mace, especially if you go with a dwarf.

Guess now I need knee breaker! Don't see any in the market though. Maybe they sell off the shelf in Zul?

They had some knee breakers off the shelf at RtCF too. If you can't find one before the next run, ask someone to grab one for you.

My dwarf uses one, it is just a vultite one that I found off some creature, held onto it because I thought it was pretty neat, first time I had seen one.
