Since people on LNET always try to tell me well your off on pricing blah blah.. it's because I don't worry about the arbitrary real dollar to coins market. I go off near like items and the approximate value.
So.. for all you real $ converting people.. lets say I'm selling for 17 mil.. or $11 per mil = $187 (and before you comment, there are already people trying to buy/sell at $10-11 range in the coins section)
BUT, since I don't deal in real $.. I'll take 17m.
Thank you and bump.

People selling silvers for 10 dollars per million?
I wanna buy those silvers so I can sell them for 13 per million.

Sorry GTG to snag your post for this purpose....
offer of 10 per mil..
Again.. I don't care about $ to coins.. you all do, I respect that so I stay near it. Doesn't mean I have to sell it or will sell it, but /shrug.
Go hunt for a few hours and make a couple mil to make up the difference, or go outside and work a couple hours spend your $$ on whatever you want and buy coins. /shrug
For me, its in game money so I try to stick close to the coin market. You all seem to enjoy the real $ market.
Done fighting this coin to dollar fight that everyone sticks by.. if we did everything in game by this measure we'd all be screwed and a recession would hit.. RtCF is the dot-com or housing bubble of Gemstone.

he OFFERED 10 per mill, he settled at 12 per. So no.. people are not selling at 10 per, or 11 per. 12.. some maybe, most 13.
Also, if I put a post up looking to buy silver at 5 per, will you use that then as a basis?

Again..you come at it from the real $ perspective.. I don't... people selling fixskills for 15-16mil.. I said 17mil.. and you all think its the end of the world...
Because.. coins are selling for $14 per!!!!
Just different perspectives.. buy it or don't, sell your coins or don't for real $, buy fake coins for $.. I don't care either way.. but to try to have you all tell me, that I should conduct all transactions based off of what you all deem the conversion rate for real $ on every deal.. is absurd for a game.
I try to stick close to it and respect the conversions that you all do, doesn't mean I have to on the dot accept whatever rate you all are pushing at the time. I might not sell it, and I'm fine with that. I'll wait 6 months.. at $6-7 per mil, I'll sell for 35 mil. /shrug But at some point it'll go.. not like I asked for 35 mil when prices in the 15-16 mil.. Or better yet, you need one.. load your CC up in the system, and buy one for $200 flat out.

I believe you may try to sell it for whatever you like. You just seem to get very argumentative when people point out your competition.
For me personally, I just found your statement about "not caring" about usd to silver conversion rates silly. Because a. obviously you do because you adjust the silver prices of your items based on the fluctuation caused by the conversion rate and b. here you are arguing about it.
I lived in Vancouver BC for a year when the USD to CA conversion rate was .66/$1. Now lets say a local Canadian merchant refused to take usd (most of them accepted it) and said "I only care about Canadian currency." Ok so I go to the bank, give the bank 6.66 usd, they give me 10 Canadian, and I come back and hand it to you. You could have taken my .66 cents and gone to the bank yourself, but you didn't want to. That's fine, but just because you choose to ignore it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist or isn't valid. Silvers have a USD conversion rate, and as we discussed on lnet earlier, you will be altering your items price based on the fluctuation that conversion rate causes in the cost of items for in game silvers (and you should if you want to make the most money for your item!). If you choose to ignore it, you will either just be over priced or under priced depending on the rate. Right now you are a bit over priced compared to your competition based on that conversion rate.
A fixstat sold for 15m yesterday and I believe Premium members can get them for $180 through the store.

1. lol.. no idea where this thread going but fun.
2. Nathan, thanks for the solid points, and I do see what you are saying. As I've said before.. I do take whatever coin to $ market there is into account. I am just not beholden to it, as I do not deal at all, in real currency. I try to be respectful of it (for my own selling purposes and other reasons), but do not adhere to it. mil
I do not believe everyone in game transfers money over (though seems more and more do). I simply think of it as this.. yesterday.. in a game I play.. an item (fixstat potion) sold for 15 mil. I have asked for 17 mil.
I do not get wrapped up in the.. "but that equals this amount of real $$". Again, I see it in that context. Because I choose to though, doesn't mean I'm ignorant of what the market is doing or how people work it.
Again, it will sell or it won't. I'm just offering it for 17m in game coins.. whatever the hell that equates to in real $ I'll let you all bother with. Or, again, load up the CC and pay $200 directly to Simu, no mind to me.
Thanks for the semi-civil tone and discourse on this topic.

For the record, its $166.65 to Simu for a fixstat. At $13 per million you are asking for ~$220 for the same thing.
Even at $12 per million that is still $204 or a $37 profit over buying right from Simu. Anyone with coins would be better off asking to purchase a potion from someone with Simu coins and then letting that person re-cash out to cash if they don't want to deal with RL cash and remain in character.
Anyone who wants to pay me an extra $50 just to purchase potions under my premium account feel free to look me up!

I'm like 8 beers in and losing my typing skills. I just get agrevated when everyone tries to make this real dollar conversion comparison. If that were really true.. 7x HCP armor would cost 18-20 mil, 10x shields 12-20 mil, etc.... if you were to base stuff off of when coins were 6-7 per mil.
I stick close to the market, but I deal strictly in coins. I don't do $ trades at all. So the stuff is arbitrary to me. I respect it what occurs with the Gemstone market. I offer an item, at near competitive SILVER price, for those that may want it. If not, no biggie.

The point you're missing is that there is no template for armor or weapons or anything like that, other than market value.
Simu sells them for a specific price. Silver is selling for (generally) a specific price. Therefore it doesn't make sense to charge more, whether it's IG currency or not.
If Wal-mart is selling a TV for 200 dollars cheaper than Best Buy, I'm going to Wal Mart to get it. Despite my seething hatred of Wal-mart.

Beer number 9 down..
There is a template, and if you sift through most the posts these days... When it benefits people, they say one thing. When it doesn't, they say another.
Look at coin prices 3-4 years ag. You hardly see any change, or an actual increase, in an items COIN value (not talking easily accessible items like potions have now become). Yes..somehow silver value has doubled. 90% of all high value items have not decreased at all, especially not by 50%.
So why is that? If the conversion and relative in game value, is supposed to stay constant (as I'm being told it should be by pricing my potion at 15 mil right now), then why aren't item prices severely reduced across the board (not counting the absurd sell offs as people scramble for coin).

Because Simu isn't offering these other items in their shop for a fixed price. If you want to get the value you seek, wait for silver prices to go back down (which it doesn't seem like they will until September, possibly even after EG.)

Well Shaps. YOU may not look at it from the real life side of things. But Simu now does. They sell the Potions for x amount of dollars. If a person does not WANT to pay X amount of dollars, they can easily trade silver for the item. Since there is a pretty much standard exchange already in existence, not only would the person be stupid to ignore it, it would also be unlikely. If the person didn't know about Lnet, or PC, MAYBE. But even then, someone would let them know.
Listen, we get that YOU don't care really about the cash conversion rate. But you are trying to sell something that CAN be bought directly with cash. Hence, you have to accept the fact that if you are trying to sell something for a significant amount more then the cash cost, people will call you out on it.

I'm no expert but in the case of fixstats and fixskills the problem is Simu basically set the real life value of these things via Simucoins.

Supply and Demand.
RtCF.
The one chance in maybe 4-5 years to MAKE uber items.
This is the reason why coin prices skyrocketed. Otherwise they would likely be around 10 yet. Like they were for about 3 years.
If you want to drag up the past.. lets talk about the days silvers were worth 50-100 a mill then.
So what you are saying is.. you want 850$ for something Simu is selling for around 167. I mean, Silver was valued that high in the past after all.

Thank you all for the best posts to date, discussing this subject. I really do appreciate it. Reading the comments and everything I would have to say I am slightly swayed. Simu did set the bar with what items are worth with the Simucoin shop (sadly). So I will take that into account on items such as this in the future.
Personally I hate that it has developed into such a real $ conversion game. But doesn't change the fact of it is, what it is.
So.. again thank you all for providing me a slightly different perspective. And as it stands....
